For Honor
How do you counter side-dodge attacks
title
Eredetileg közzétette: The Corner Lad:
Easiest method i know is to try and bait them out with feinted heavies then parrying their dodge attack, won't work too well at higher levels but at low to mid level play it should work pretty well until they wise up (which could be anywhere from after 1 try to never)

Then what you lack is simply experience, in time you will learn how to counterbait your opponents into dash attacks. If you are playing as a conqueror, scaring them to dodge should be easy by just dodging forward.Remember that you can in fact feint your attacks, with your full block.

That aside, the only answer to an attack would be a counterattack. Also remember that you can guardbreak them early in their dodge animation, when they haven't started their dash attack yet.

If you keep falling for the dash attacks, turtle more.Kenseis especially have an extremely powerful dash attack, due to how it's not very punishable, can be delayed a lot,and chains immediately to their finisher. As conqueror you usually want to bait them with dodging forward or something similar, then full block and counter.Or parry and counter,of course.

It seems like I need to focus a lot more on baiting and feinting to be effective against people with experience.

Not that any of this will translate into 4v4s since it's usually a giant mosh pit.
It will. Most of all you should be patient.Take it easy.Get some music playing in the background. The game can be very frustrating for newcomers,so don't take it too seriously and focus on learning from your mistakes.

Parry them.

It's a feat only true masters of for honor can achieve, but don't lose your faith.and one day,you too will be able to parry!
Deflects are better tho.

You can.If you dodge to the direction the attack is coming from you can "deflect" it,although conqueror doesn't exactly have a deflect,it's a superior block. You'd be better off full blocking it most of the time for guaranteed 30 damage.

Rip
You need to understand that side dodge attacks are to punish your attack attempt, so basically don't f it up.

For details,
1. Don't do things that allow unexpected side dodge attacks (like attacking recklessly without knowing your opponent).
2. Bait out side dodge attacks using feints. Better feint unblockables rather than normal heavies.
3. Punish the side dodge attacks when they come out. You need to train yourself to parry/deflect/GB/whatever in Training mode to understand how to deal with them.

But it's most important trying to read your opponent. Think about what hero they play, what options they have, which they will most likely utilize against you at which specific moment, and try to deal with them. It won't work all the time, but this is PvP after all.
