There's not even the possibility to say something like "Well you can try X" because all of the X you could try is awful.
If you want to play LB, you're going to have to just put up with his trash design.
As-is, he *can* win in duels, but it's just a bit tedious.
If a hero is built as a counter-attacker, and cannot himself reliably actually attack, then what do you think is going to happen? His opponent is going to sit there and look at him. Nobody is going to attack a specialized counter-attacker if there's no threat to make them attack. They're going to stand around and wait for the character who has no offense to get bored and try to engage in offense, and then they're going to murder him for it.
Even counter-attackers need to be able to attack. Having offensive pressure is the only thing that can bait an opponent into acting. If you have no pressure, there's no bait, and the opponent can just turtle up themselves and do nothing without any danger of punishment. If you can't apply pressure with your offense, then your defense and counterattack options are irrelevant because nobody will ever give you the chance to use them. See: Pre-work Berserker, Pre-work Conqueror, Pre-work Kensei, current Valkyrie, current Nobushi, current Orochi, current Raider, current Aramusha, current Centurion, current Lawbringer, current Shugoki, etc.
imo he should get hyperarmor on the longarm, either that or make it much faster (like what they did with Nobushi's kick). On top of either of hose, maybe make it pass through armor to break through turtles
"What is Warlord and Shinobi".
About 2/3rds of the cast has an opener, base assassin's don't have one. There's no distinction in the game that disallows Lawbringer to have an opener. Shinobi, as one of the few examples, is a counter-attacker that has 500 ms in lights, can double light, has good parry techniques, and can deflect, and he's pretty fine. Why is Lawbringer forced to act as a turtler when a real heavy like Warlord can go on the offensive sometimes, and is equipped with hyperarmor.
