I think "haters" tend to be more vocal and suspect the slightest -ve can trigger those with that mind-set.
If this is one of the worst games ever created, I'd like to see the best, or even worst +1....
It's a great game with a steep learning curve so it's easy to get destroyed and frustrated earlier on. But you can play ai to get better and the match-making will likely be improved over time.
The fact you are here after all those -ve's shows you've seen something in the game that appeals to you... I say follow your gut and remember the +ves when you play and don't get sucked into seeing one -ve as the be all and end all...
+1 to FH, I say....
The game isnt balanced from person to person, it really isnt. Once you approach high tier play its 100% turtle meta with more PK, Conq, and Sham than anything else. Even newer players have their own problems. Gladi, cent, and law make for EXTREMELY frustrating opponents when your learning the game. (this is after 20 prestige btw, so im not just putting this on here without experience of my own)
All in all, FH is a great game with poor implementation. The fighting feels AMAZING, but the over-arching problems that make the turtle meta what it is and make certain characters insanely imba (pk zone... like really?) just dont help the game keep a positive image, whether it be for new players or for vets, neither demographic is happy, which isnt healthy.
I believe that For Honor wholeheartedly deserved the bad rep it gets. Sure, it's much better than it was on release, but that's the equivalent of saying the outside your front door trash smells a little less than it did last week. It's still trash. Yes, I'm using this analogy on purpose. I hope a dev reads this or something, just so I can get a small bit of meaningless satisfaction.
A lot of -ve responses also seem to come from people who quote "high-level" game play. I fear that this may also include a lot of folk who see themselves as "high-level" or "deserve to be." I suspect that by actual definitions "high-level" is probably something like the top 10% of players which obviously doesn't include the 90% below that. I suspect many of those 90% have bruised ego's and seek other excuses beyond their skill-limit. I'm in the 90% btw and average at best. I am also not referring to any previous posters here as I don't know them.
If you are super competitive this game may frustrate you but only at the very top level - if you are that way, you will probably choose the most op characters anyway and again it's only the top-tier players who will show you up. Also, the better you are/get, the less those apparent op differences will become as you will be able to counter them, within reason. - there will always be mix-ups, that catch us (props x), parries we miss, etc., even amongst the best of them. I still see a lot of truely excellent players, playing and streaming. I suspect they simply love the game and don't take it's few flaws too seriously - luckily I can do that too, even as an average (or slightly below 0:)) player. :D
All this can be avoided by playing ai, 4v4's, etc, while still enjoying the uniqueness and testing your ever-developing skills. It can also be avoided by simply not taking yourself too seriously.
I think that expecting a unique game like this to be balanced from the start is folly and says more about the individuals rather than the game. Also, individuals have favourite characters which means their logic and reason leave the building when it comes to seeing their warrior relative to their enemies - these are human weaknesses which will be exaggerated by games such as this. Please buff Warden, though. ;)
