Emote spam isn't toxic
Ive seen a lot of people call me toxic when I emote spam when I win fights.
Really, you should be able to emote spam if you win a battle.
•its funny, like lb can ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ride a pony
•You won the fight you should be able to do what you want
•Who cares? It's just a dance.
Clearly many people do care.
So I ask
Do you think emote spam is toxic?

(Its not)

I'd say it depends on the emote and the context. If it's a lawbro pony-riding throughout the map, not just stopping to do it on your corpse, I tend to think of it as lighthearted fooling around. If it's the base warlord emote, looks pretty close to a T-bag so I can see it ticking more people off. I just tend to roll my eyes because if I let myself get tilted the rest of the session is likely going to stay that way.

Though I to the issue of getting banned, it isn't emote spam per se. It's the loosely defined "harassment" and report system For Honor has. I've gotten reported for harassment and subsequently sanctioned automatically and the support team couldn't even tell me for what. I don't emote spam, at least not in the context of "t-bagging" someone. I don't ♥♥♥♥-talk unless someone starts moaning at me first, yet it still happens. The only way to not get reported for harassment and "Toxic behavior" is to literally not do anything that could possibly irk someone ever. So... good luck with that.

Again it would probably be healthier to have an option in the menus to disable emote visibility, that way players who do get rubbed the wrong way by Warlords T-bagging or other hero doing similar won't have to see any of it, just a character standing around above their corpse or making jerky movements when they exit in an out of the animation, something they won't be able to see.

What's the defense going to be not to have an option like that?
"I don't want players to disable emotes so they can't see me dry-humping their corpse, that hurts my feelings!"

I'm figuring they'd also use such an option: some can dish out the emote spam to insult: they don't always take it so well when it's thrown back at them when they lose.
And finally it would only affect the player choosing to have emote visibilty disabled, won't affect anyone else.

Honestly, that idea about option to disable enemy emote, is very good.
I maybe have 90% salt tolerance, still emote spam on my corpse gets me sometime.

Imagine you play Duel, there is a Warden, lag switch. back dash sb every time, you are tired and just want the game to end so you can find another match, but Warden doesn't play like that, he doesn't kill you, just emote in front of you, typing in the chat "Noob", "Git Gud".

That would tilt me a bit.

The only exceptions to this would be Highlander and Shaolins stance emotes, since those kind of serves a purpose to goad a reaction from an opponent. That kind of emote spam I don't think can be disabled, being part of their movesets as opposed to being a part of all characters general controlls.
But you can't equip effects on them, so excessive and annoying sounds won't be an issue.

Highlander would still be able to go into Offensive Stance and spam his noises and Shaolin would mostly be a silent finger wagging... which looks really stupid when done without an opponent to fight, I suppose it could be insulting, but it would have to be a creative one.

Thing is players wouldn't know if someone has this option enabled, so the risk of it would be extremly low, unless your such a pathetic winner that you have to insult your opponents at any cost and thus would go into OF/QiS just to do so such an emote spam.

Those two aside, everyone kind of wins in that regard, I would like an option like this. I don't mind emote spam most days, but other times I really wish I could just turn it off and concentrate on the game without feeling intense anger over it and give in to the impulse of reporting someone for abusive behaviour... and I don't think THAT is the kind of enviroment we want to foster.

You know, if I can't see the emote spam, how do I know someone emote spams me and why should I care if have it disabled in the first place?
Can't take offense if you can't see it, you know what I mean?

Sometimes I wonder if you actually process anything anyone writes.
How does a player choosing to hide emotes/effects on their screen, out of their sight affect YOU?

Right now in the games User Interface in the options menu I can disable effects for Idles/Emotes/Execution at any time during gameplay. All effects from both myself and other players then become disabled to me, but not to any other player, this only affects ME.

So how does an option that allow players to at will enable/disable emotes for them alone, so that on their screen they don't see emotes, leaving everyone else none the wiser, they can still see their emotes and that of everyone else, there's that one person who choose not to.

So unless it's not actually about "I spam emotes because it's just fun" and it's more "I emote spam to grief other players and knowing they can choose not to see me do it hurt my feelings as a toxic player", then an personal option for individual players doesn't affect you at all.

You'd rather be reported and banned for toxic behaviour through emote spam than have players that just don't take to well to it choosing not to see it for themselves?
Are you that desperate to T-bag other players?

To repeat: How does a PERSONAL choice, that only affects the individual making it, affect YOU?

Its time wasted on meaningless things instead of the game we all play, if you don't enjoy the game don't play it, simple, rather have time dedicated to a new hero/reworks.

Bro, taking care of players is a good thing.
Also I don't think it would take a lot of times to make that function.

Not many players would want it either.

If you get rid of emote spam, then players who just dance with teammates would want it back

they are talking about an opt in system where you can't see the emote spam even if they are doing it

Just follow the example of other fighting games, no one censors teabagging and most are balanced towards the top.

Few of them also don't ban you for doing so as part of toxic behaviour, For Honor does so here we are.
My suggestion comes from both wanting to remove the need to ban players for emote spamming, but also provide those who get their feathers ruffled with an option to just ignore it without having to uninstall the game.

Some just want to play the game and enjoy it without the sort of behaviour that steams from getting ganked and then have an emote spam party on your corpse, following with the same players doing so saying "git gud noob" "gg" "ez" and on and on.

You're making a lot of "just don't play the game" and "they left because their losers" comments, tell me, how did the "just don't X this game" go over for Battlefield 5?

Though it'd be hilarious if such a system was implemented and a ton of players leave because "now we don't know if the players we ganked and mangled can see us take a big ♥♥♥♥ on their corpse with the latest emote, my feelings are so hurt, I'm uninstalling!"
It'd be funny, because we'd see just how many awful people were playing the game lol.

If someone tbags you, the best thing to do is to beat them, if you can't beat them, practice, if you can't practice don't expect you'll have fun in a competitive video game. And really, if someone emote spams you, just play the game, don't emote spam back if you win because the cycle of emote spamming will continue.
