Please remind me how to unlock multiplayer!

A friend just started playing and wanted to team up with me. However I just can't remember how he would have to unlock multiplayer. I recall I had to fight the head of my faction (?) but can't remember how I got to that point.

Would he just have to complete the basic tutorial - or was it something in the story line? Eek - it's embarrassing what my ageing brain is forgetting lol.

Jokes aside the possible anti-piracy measure, you are forced after the tutorial to do so.

Go into the game, play multiplayer.
I've played in the samurai faction for 175reps and haven't even finished the first part of the story... You don't need to.

Thanks - so he just has to finish the basic tutorial, then he gets presented with appropriate option to to do the required battle that unlocks multiplayer? BTW he bought Marching Fire edition in case that changes things?

Doh - if that's it, I have no memory of that at all. I thinks it's because I have played solo pve up until now so unlocking multiplayer didn't really impact me enough to register!

Great - will let him know.

I play pve without multiplayer so far with arcade mode, storyline or multiplayer maps with matchmaking off so it's just me and bots.

Yeah he will have to do one tutorial match and defeat an AI to then unlock multiplayer.

Quick reminder that you can own the game on Uplay.
Don't doubt 175 reps,people played for at least 200 on youtube.

I got starter edition for free on uplay in june 2018, played almost everyday since.

I personally don't find the game that good anymore.
It was hype as f*ck in the beginning but after realizing you can just beat people by not doing any thing it's eh.
The devs are looking into this,I hope they can figure it out before the game loses support.

That doubt was because of a other reason not because he does not own it on steam.
