I am normally a defensive type player, to guard a spot and keep enemies at bay until backup arrives, but often times, no one comes and i end up getting ganked on an 3v1 fight and losing the spot. And more irritating when players start insulting me because i lost the spot. I'm not the greatest player, but I'm not horrible either.
So hard to find good teammates these days.
Breach is horribly unbalanced. The defenders have the overwhelming advantage (except for the commander phase). With attackers having to go against both a timer, lives, and the rams health vs the defenders just having to worry about the ram for the most part.
At the same time, defenders also kinda screwed over. I feel like the map design really isn't as balanced as it could be, with some maps being a struggle to take the first rampart and others dropping the rampart before defenders could even get there. The placement of the health flag either being to close to the defenders or too close to the attackers.
It's gets even worse during the final phase where the balance completely flips in favor of the attackers unless the defenders were able to get enough kills and bring the tickets down to single digits. Plus the Commander AI is absolutely atrocious. They really should have just had that be a player controlled entity.
And then there's also the fact that Breach on average takes about 20-30 minutes per match and gives such mediocre rewards that it's ultimately not really worth it. Unless the developers/publishers stop being completely greedy (which won't happen) and rebalance the economy to be more fair, these modes are going to stay as dead/near dead as they are.
I don't think you can really fight it except to not stretch out your base with too many modes in the first place and end up with dead ones. People will play what they will and even if you like a game mode because it maybe requires more skill or teamplay, most will gravitate towards the lowest common denominator.
I know in NA if you play at peak times you can find breach games, although queues are longer than dom.
I really like Breach, but I gave up trying to play it with others a long time ago. Queues take more than five minutes, which is too long for me to wait only to be matched with people that will probably get lost on the map.
game mechanics and balance aside, those modes are really cool with a pre-made team on vocal-com.
But, I guess most of FH players only play 'solo' through random public MM, so they don't (have to) care about other people's strategy/tactics or opinion. They don't have to follow 'orders' or give some, so it's basically comfort-zone game experience.
The issue seems to be that Breach and Tribute actually require more team-play in order to win, or just at least to counter any other team, if it's made of other randos picks, but with better individual skill.
And probably, the respawn timer can be too long (and too punishing) for most players who only play the game in short sessions.
Deathmatch :
Considering the current pop and the current state of MM (being matched with players ways above or below your league) it makes sense the mode is unpopular. If you're the weakest link in Elimination, you spend the whole match spectating others, to finally witness your team lose = no fun.
Also, I don't like that there are pickable bonus, both in Skirmish and Elimination. Other than that, both modes are also Deathball simulators, so I guess every one favors Dominion anyway because of shorter queue times.
well you best have a healing feat cause there aint no heal zone on the map.
and breach.......... it takes too long for the measly rewards losing a game? well enjoy the 15-20 mins of shame. that on top of the horrid balance on that mode and it frags some peoples machines(yeah i don't know how either but one crash too many for them apparently)
