Highlander is weak for these reasons:
1. He is super slow for no reason.
2. Related to 1, his damage output is just garbage, especially for how slow he moves.
3. He uses way too much stamina. He can't even do a proper mixup without going oos.
4. His health is as garbage as his damage. He is supposed to be able to trade with his hyper armor, but lacks the health to actually do it.
5. His hyper armor starts faaar too late. His attacks can be interrupted easily by a light attack. It renders his hyper weak at best.
6. His offensive form is too easy to accidentally trigger for one, and for two, when in offensive form, he can be taken out in a single parry.
To properly buff highlander, first and formost, he needs stamina. He needs it bad. He can't even fight properly because he runs out so fast. So either reduce his stamina costs or buff his stamina pool.
Damage can be handled twofold. Either keep him slow and make his damage output more akin to Shugoki, OR keep his damage where it's at, and spees up his moves.
Highlander is supposed to trade, givw him the proper tools to do it. Make hyper start sooner, and buff his health. It doesn't need to he a crap ton, but he should have enough to enable him to actually trade hits with someone other than an assassin.
And there you go. More stamina or less stamina cost; more speed or more damage; more health and hyper armor needs to trigger faster.
I think these would put Highlander into a good place and actually make him a viable option in 1v1.
When I was playing, everyone seemed to be able to avoid it. Even taking that part out tho, it shouldn't use as much stamina as it does for as little damage as you get.
I'm not saying not to buff him.
I'm just afraid they'll nerf his unblockables, knowing ubi
Just make it so his transition into offensive mode is faster and less obvious than it currently is. Currently going into offensive mode makes a loud noise and takes a good transition period. At which point any player who is focusing on you and notices it can just go "Oh time to throw a heavy at this dumb Highlander" and it will usually land due to your recovery frames.
If the recovery frames on offensive mode are decreased and you can say... throw something like an offensive light out almost immediately it will very much help his viability in general.
Of course I don't think this is the only buff he needs, but I think to avoid overbuffing (same way I wish we could avoid overnerfing...) the best way is to buff him step by step. After all Highlander isn't great, but he's certainly nowhere near as bad as classes like Kensei or Conqueror.
ok i tested with bots and they can react to the kick and dodge it but in a game scenario with 2 players fight it could work because of lag or even a surprise attack.
Feels to me like he needs a bit of everything.A bit more health would make more sense, along with a damage buff on his heavies at some point, which do suprisingly low damage. His offensive stance lights need a buff asap as well.I like how you even have the option of changing your unblockables into lights, but they are so weak there's no point in doing it.
Also,i've said it before and I say it again, but they take way too much stamina,as much as the heavies do,and this is ridiculous.
A small buff in stamina would also be nice to see,so you could actually use more than 2 combos before going oos.
Even if the enemy is gathered, there is only one target that can strike with a horizontal strike.
