Adding the gladiator was a stupid idea
So the factions will only get 2 dlc heros this year or maybe ever and the knights get their second hero wasted

There's already a roman in the game. The centurion he was fine because in the lord he was part of the original knights but the gladiator is unneeded and makes zero sense to add we only needed one roman non knight

There are so many different knights from all around Europe and yet both the characters aren't even knights before ou say the centurion was the original knights they still technically aren't knights
Here's some ideas and I only know basic knowledge on Medieval Europe
Knight with a zweinhander/ Greatsword
Knight with a war hammer
Knight with a mace
Knight with a raipier

Correct me if I'm wrong by the gladiator looks like an assassin hybrid just like nobushi but centurion is already an assassin hybrid so their both the same class type

Guys, the developers have made it clear that they don't really give a rats ass about historical accuracy. Hell, the Vikings got a damn Highlander which is nothing close to what a Viking was historically, and you don't see us whining about it. I think the Gladiator looks awesome, will play like a BAMF, and be a great threat on the battlefield. Ubisoft already has their mind send on making this character, no amount of threads or forum posts or death threat emails are going to stop this release and make them create a new knight character. Honestly, I'm kinda jealous that the knights got a hero like that.
The problem isn't that it isn't historically accurate it's that it doesn't match the faction name and we already have one roman

My theory is just that the devs really wanted to add gladiator-style heroes into the game since they were renowned fighters in history and are very cool to be honest, but they couldn't reasonably just throw in a fourth "Roman" faction next to the existent ones considering all the other heroes *do* more or less fit into the Vikings/Samurai and the Knights were the closest fit to them

(especially since it was mentioned in the story that the Knight's Legions were founded by "Centurions", and additionally in history it was more or less the same to some extent (Roman Empire became the Holy Roman Yadda yadda which became several central European nations which had knights and stuff) so it's not too unreasonable to assume the lore that some Knights in the game just looked at their ancestors and thought: "Hey their fighting styles are cool so we could copy them to help against those Vikings and Samurai" or something)

Centurion makes sense lorewise and having one roman is fine it's just that the gladiator isn't explained and we only need one roman it just looks like a lack of inspiration

If you don't agree with the thread then don't comment. Simple.

Oh wait, you did comment on the thread. It is almost like people are allowed to speak out against things they disagree with.

Is lawbringer a warden with a pole arm?

Centurion isn't a Gladiator. The only thing possibly indicating him as one are a historically innaccurate execution and emote since Pollice Verso is too generalized in ancient texts to know what it truly meant, although a lot of historians consider that a "thumbs down" gesture meant "sword to the ground" and a "thumbs sideways" gesture meant "sword to the throat".

So with that out of the way, the only thing making Centurion a Gladiator is an execution with a pop culture reference to another historically innaccurate piece of media.

They are both roman or have roman origins I never said centurion was a gladiator

Hoplites are actually of Greek origin and the Roman gladiator style Hoplomachus is derivative from that.

its not about accuracy
its about making boring characters
we got a roman already, and the gladiator is basically a reskinned valk
give me a hussar with a sabre, a conqustador with a rapier
give me something different

We haven't seen anything of Gladiator yet, how can you be so sure he's just another Valkyrie? There are many different shield/spear styles out there. Also, a Hussar or Conquistador without a horse is pointless, and there probably isn't enough research they can do in their infantry fighting style because of that. A Rapier user would be cool though, but since a lot of the other factions' characters don't have plate or chainmail it makes it kind of useless.

You mean
Warden Copy
LB copy with shorter weapon
Conq copy without chain on his morning star
PK copy with rapier instead of sword
