Can play through steam, or forced to launch through uplay?

Title. Is For Honor going to be another Uplay title that you can buy on steam, but 'play' will just launch uplay to play it through there like Division and Siege ?

Or can we just play the game through steam without a uplay account?

Edit: After doing a little more digging, yes. Even if you launch the game through steam, uplay is required. rip.

Yelling about the game being on uplay is crazy, if anything its a positive bonus. Giving you weekly challenges for exp or exclusive items and using your uplay points for other items in game that doesn't cost real money.

Uplay is complete garbage and not needed to download besides to push off their ♥♥♥♥ deals and try to lower pirating. Also, it takes two seconds to download. Not sure why this guy is yelling about ''gotta stand up bruh'' kinda odd and weird, i'd stay away from this kid if i was you. He seems a bit like a trouble maker, of course proudly displaying that vac ban confirms that fact. Yelling nonsense like ''its time to stand up and fight back'' like people are trying to take away his rights or something, funny i do agree but anyone with that low of a IQ and damaged mental health isn't good to listen to.

It being a multiplayer game, like Siege and The Division, will require you to log into your Ubi account through Uplay.
Compared to the other services i can't get too mad at Uplay, sure i'd be happier without it but its impact is insignificant, i'm still running it from Steam, the Steam overlay still works, i can Broadcast and take screenshots on Steam. One bonus is the game gets automatically activated on your account on Uplay too, for whatever that's worth.

The problem with having to play through uplay is that sometimes they just say, "no you don't own this game" even when you launch it through steam and then ask for your cd key (which you cannot get anymore) for the game to prove you have it, so basically you can't play the game at all
