Need Shugoki oni charge advice

Hi all. I am in the midst of making shugoki. When i use Oni charge + cancel, i make my enemy fall but most of the time i fail to land a heavy attack on my enemy. Either i cannot reach my enemy on time or i able to reach but miss my attack when i swing. How should i face my enemy lying on the ground when i want to do a heavy attack. After oni charge, i should just dash to my enemy and swing my bat or i dash to my enemy, stop and swing my bat? Somehow i always swing my bat but end up miss and swing

I will answer this question correctly, but know that what you seek to do is horrible.

As soon as you hit your enemy with the Charge of the Oni, hit the "lock on" button, and then hit heavy attack. Don't bother with the "cancel" button--the lock-on will automatically cancel it. If you time it right (which isn't hard once you do it a couple of times and get the right feel), the Shugoki will basically glide over to your opponent and whack 'em with a side heavy.

When u hit with oni charge enemy will fly pretty far away. So u saying lock can cancel oni charge once u hit your enemy and make him 'glide to his enemy' and can do a heavy? Never try that before.

My way i did was to press cancel when i hit and need to sprint to enemy again and do a heavy attack.
