Apollyon Theories?
Okay, For Honor's story is half assed ♥♥♥♥. The only reason why I play the story is to figure why Apollyon is doing all this petty ♥♥♥♥. Of course the game doesn't tell us, so what theories can the community come up with to try to explain Apollyon's resolve?
I personally think she's supposed to be some "god of war", and being surrounded in war makes her stronger or some ♥♥♥♥ like that. That or she's trying to weaken all the factions so she can swiftly take over.

My interpretation was that she sees war as the only way to progress humanity. War brings out the "wolves" as she put it, which in a way mirrors our own reality. A lot of our most incredible accomplishments were done during times of war and desperation when technological advancement was desperately needed.

Don't think about it too much because they clearly didn't.

B-bu-bu WAR. It's.... it's good! And stuff..

WAAAARRRRRR

Yeah. War. Everyone loves a bit of war.

Also I'm a completely one dimensional character.

Overthinking it. She wants conflict for the sake of conflict. She revels in the contest of strength. This is why she ensures she never "wins" when she could have just killed all her enemies at some point. All the daimyo would have been executed and the vikings would have starved.

It's basically a setup for the MP, a 40k style setup. "There is only war."

basically she is (named after at least) an angel of death and destruction, she does what she does to create war which makes death and destruction, hence why shes invincible and murders everyone in the cutscenes like a ninja and fights like an artorias wannabe in the end. at one point i believe i heard her say that her "human" name is apollyon(which is the greek version of the name abaddon in hebrew) meaning this theory is right or at least shes not human.

Apollyon is essentially Esdeath from Akame ga Kill. There's literally no way to better understand her way of thinking than by looking at Esdeath's thought process.

Barring the fact she simply wants war, one could assume she's preparing the three factions for a larger threat on the horizon. It could be the Roman's or Mongols for all we know.
Personally I think she is just crazy. If you read her backstory, then things begin to piece themselves together.
I think she was a Valkyrie. I have evidence of why if you want
Okay, I'll be referencing Black Panther here, but I think she has a similar mindset to Killmonger. Apollyon's backstory says her village was destroyed because a Lawbringer decided it wasn't worth protecting, making her adopt a survival-of-the-fittest mindset or whatever it was. I think that on top of this, she also wanted to hurt others as much as she had been hurt, like Killmonger.
