When do you start getting purple gear?

i think you get slightly better blue gear but no purple

I thought you get drops starting at rep 1 and then it becomes more normal RNG at r3?

You still get drops before R1, they're just all crappy. After R1 you start getting less crappy, at R2 you start getting the occasional blue, and it gets better as you go

At R1 you get level 7/8 gear.
