Menu Randomly Opening Mid-Fight?

Using KB+M.

Randomly, mid-fight, the esc menu will open up, royally screwing me in the midst of combat.
I've tried pressing all the buttons I could be hitting, and nothing seems to do it. It only triggers in the heat of things.

I'm using a mechanical keyboard with a pretty high actuation, so I don't think it's a misclick... But man, this is really ticking me off - throws me off my rhythm and more often than not ruins a good kill streak.

Any ideas? I asked in game once and someone asked if I used nvidia or radeon, but it disconnected before I could answer... could that have something to do with it?

It happens to me but I'm usually controller. Also it's mostly due to me panicking and moving my left thumb into the start button.

How is it using a keyboard and mouse? One of my friends tried it and it sounds pretty damn awkward to use.

I haven't had a single problem with it, the random menu popup aside. I actually like it better than controller, which is odd because most 3rd person perspective games I use one.

The esc key is nowhere near the main finger placements, so I doubt it is hitting that.

Oh wow, really? Yeah, I always assumed all third person games were better with controller, especially if it's melee based. Huh. Guess I should try it.

But yeah, no idea. The most I can suggest is looking at the keybinds and see if any other buttons link to the menu.

you switch block direction just by moving mouse right left or up, so it's really simple to mix things up on people
