What is the point of getting Outfits?
.... other than having something to trash steel on. There is not much variation, just some colors, some cheap effects on the Elites that are not my cup of tea... I mean there is nothing special about them. Anybody is buying these?

Just for fashion. If you just wanna play the game itself then the only use for steel is that 30,000 feat unlock and playing the lotto for better actual gear.

I know. But that's not my point. My point is that outfits shouldn't be distinctive enough to give you incentive to buy them?

I'm assuming you meant "Shouldn't outfits be", and it's all pretty optional. They'd have to be pretty absurdly flashy to make a HUGE difference, and some of them do still stand out. I'm definitely going to save up for that one Warlord outfit with the winged helm, it's sexy

There's only so much distinction you can give them without turning the game into a Japanese MMO with maids and crap running around. I think there's enough options between patterns/colors/symbols/gear/etc. to let people make a character they like without destroying immersion.

Yeah but I can do awesome stuff without buying outfits since we have so many customization options... so...

So don't buy them? You unlock a bunch of options just by leveling and finding gear anyway.

outfits are just for patterns/special effects, actual gear which u get from crates will have a more variety of skins (prestige 1+ blue gear, prestige 3+ yellow gear, might be more after that)

I disagree. I know what you mean (though I personally don't see this game as immersion-inducing, there are wooden armor samurai and medieval assassins with unusable helmets doing flips in battle, a maid wouldn't change that notion for me), but here the distinction is severely downplayed for no reason.

I am not talking about model changes, those are actually really good (helmets, accessories, weapon etc), but about color schemes.

They are severely limited both spacially and in sense of how different they are. Characters don't have to have blue skin in order for them to be "blue", but if you limit the palette to like 20% of their body, it's hard to see any difference even when you are reviewing them in menus, let alone in actual matches. And then, on top of that, they decided to make everything too sanpaper-ish, gritty and rusty. I don't mean the design, that's cool, but how well the color "sticks". I have literally been switching from two color palettes on some classes without blinking and had difficulties seeing what changed. And I'm a freaking concept artist lol.
Customizable things are too weakly printed on characters. My banner is so transparent that it virtually makes no difference. Color combos for coat of paints and emblems are often simply bad and you often don't see the emblem because someone thought that yellow can be seen on top of white and light blue.

It's the same problem Blood Bowl 1/2 have. Although, there it's more prominent, as you need to differentiate players, here you have one avatar which you control.

Because ubisoft wants your money
now go buy outfits

I've honestly never really had that problem. I've had plenty of moments where I saw a teammate or enemy and thought "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that guy looks cool". As Robomagon said, there's only so much you can do before it becomes really over-the-top and starts to break immersion.

Although it is pretty comical how you can change your skin color on classes like the Warden where there literally isn't a single area their skin is exposed

I had those moments but only with people who took knights and got to change the material of their armor.
But that's the point, that thing with the skin on warden. It's like that in general. Try cycling different material on nobushi. You don't have to, I'll tell you: nothing happens:)
