A free for all? I would never play that lol.. because some people would party with friends, kill the enemies then kill each other letting one win then the other the next game.
Honestly there are a lot of GREAT ways this could go.
1. this type of mode could be introduced by the "generals" of the factions. Just imagine a youtube video of ALL your favorite youtubers (or streamers) duking it out to see who stands on top as the best of them all. I would watch those videos like, 10 times over. Not only giving me 1. hours of entertainment, (depending on how many videos like this were made) 2. Bring in more cash to support my favorite youtubers and 3. increase marketing for For Honor, EXPONENTIALLY (ya see what I'm putting down here on the table FELLAS?? [Dev's])
2. If you have a bunch of friends who want to see which of them would win in a free for all, key word "free for all". Elimination doesn't work because if you want to find out who is the BEST amongst you, then you can't be on teams. The only way this could potentially work is multiple rounds of 1 v 1 duel, but that's no fun. (sorta kinda. [I'M MAKING A POINT HERE])
3. There is only 1 game mode currently that does not have you on a team. And that's duel. But 1. I always thought duel was a kind of lonely game mode to play, and 2. only the most hard of the core players (only the most hardcore players) play duel. Or the extremely new people who have no idea what they are getting themselves into.
4. This would be so much fun, and I doubt a scenario of people partying up with friends and teaming on the other free for all partners would happen frequently if AT ALL simply because there are other team modes that accomplish. Join your friends, and beat the crap out of some randoms in dominion, but whats the point of going into a free for all with the plan to decimate the other randoms and duke it out between yourselves. That would get old real fast, as it's not even a challenge. And For Honor is all about the challenge.
4A. For Honor players are way more honorable than that.
Side note, I like the fact that the thread I made about this, but was much more detailed and extensive got absolutely no comments, but the one I made with literally a total of less than 10 words was more received by the community.
In most games you cant enter as a group into FFA mode, at least the ones i have played.
So far, dominion is the game mod that prevented too much ganking more effectively than any other mod. A dominion with bigger maps and more players could be fun aswell.
HOWEVER, nobody pointed this out but I do believe the option of how many players you want in a FFA mode would not be a bad idea if it came down to it. Start at 4, then 8, then 12.
However a 4 player FFA is not really what I would intend, as like I said previously it's underwhelming. The goal is to have a bunch of groups fighting off their own mini battles across the entire map. Maybe three people fighting in one corner, a duel going off on it's own in the middle, and 4 other people are all clustered at the other end of the map 2 specific people are hanging back watching two separate battles while a single person is lost and can't find anybody. Heck maybe even all 12 facing off in one giant battle in a king of the hill situation, all brutally fighting to survive and remain on top.
OR, You can just have 4 people duke it out on the center.
:/
I honest to god prefer the primer.
But hey, I just really want a free for all mode at all. A 4 person FFA would be nice if you had 3 other friends, and you guys just wanted to be off on your own in a game by yourselves.
I disagree, as right now the only mode that promotes individual skill in the game without relying on teammates of any kind is 1 v 1 duel, which is very much a competitive mode especially amongst those who play it exclusively. (The most hardcore of players) an FFA mode is much more fun (in it's own way [duel is more of a calm battle sort of fun so it's not as comparable except for the fact both modes promote individual skill]) simply because it adds a sense of controlled chaos to the mix. :)
That would definitely be a cool mode.
