Can't do full screen?
So I can't seem to put my game to full screen. It only goes to full screen with window borderless. Anyone have a fix with this? Im not getting good fps with the window borderless one.

You could try doing Alt + Enter

I had this initially on my ultrawide monitor... I selected the border to get focus and alt+enter fixed it. I also made sure to set the correct display in the options.

I found that if you have Nvidia and let it auto optimize your game this is the problem...for me at least...go to your geforce experience and instead of having it auto optimize your game go to details right under where it says play when you highlight the game with your mouse cursor and then click the wrench(customize) icon right next to where it says optimize, and then slide the dot all the way to the right so its at maximum quality (if your graphics card can handle it)...that made my game start going full screen every time now and lets me now pick if i want the game full screen or windowed as well now. If it doesn't go full screen all of a sudden when it has been, check to make sure it didn't auto optimize the game(because sometimes it does) and if it did, do the same thing again to fix it. Hope this helps some people and if my instructions aren't clear enough or have questions just post and ill be happy to explain even more in detail.
p.s. this is for pc of course :D

I've been messing around with this a bit today, at least for the time being I have a solution that's working consistently for me across game and PC restarts. For reference my hardware is a GTX 1080 running latest Nvidia drivers and a dual monitor setup (1 on HDMI, one on DVI)

Here's what I did:

1) Launch the game, set all your customization options and quit
2) Go to Documents\My Games\For Honor and open options.ini
3) Set DisplayModeType to 2 for fullscreen
4) If you have multiple displays like me, make note of the value in ActiveDisplayIndex
5) Scroll down to [Display], fill in X below with ActiveDisplayIndex
6) Set the DisplayX_Height to the same as your desktop (ex. 1080)
7) Set the DisplayX_Width to the same as your desktop (ex. 1920)
8) Save the file, right-click, make ReadOnly

This seems to force the game to create a window first, but then it will go to fullscreen without a problem, at least for me it has so far.

One thing I've noticed even with these settings in place. If you are doing anything on the second monitor when you launch the game, it will default to a window every time. Personally I only have UPlay on the second monitor and after I launch For Honor I don't touch the mouse or controller until the fullscreen window is created.

Hope this helps at least some who are still having the problem. The recommendation on the Ubisoft forum didn't do anything for me, and if you don't make it ReadOnly the second you make a change in For Honor the game re-writes the file and breaks your configuration again.

nice fix...yah i play on my 50 sumthin(lol cant remember size)inch led tv with hdmi cord from my computer and i always shut my monitor off before launching game and it always does full screen ever since i did the custom settings in geforce experience instead of letting it optimize the game...if this for some reason fails me again which it hasnt but only once and bout a week ago then ill do this...thank for your info buddy...i do hate that u cant only run it through steam though.
p.s. have u found a fix to where the game stays running even after u quit to desktop? It wont let you close steam and u have to force close the game in task manager. I was weary about this game when i seen ubisoft was the maker cuz their games always have something wrong with them or something doesnt work right. I remember going through hell getting dark messiah might and magic to work years back when it came out but i did get it to finally.
