i have no idea, i only know that ressetting the plug&play option from my router worked to open the nat for rainbow six. but i am not gonna bother, i have a moderate nat and its enough for a beta

NAT, network address translation, I imagine you have to open a few ports on your router and forward them to your computer to open up the NAT.

Here is a tutorial on how to do it, or rather which ports to open.

Yeah...Nat type changes at times for me. Most of the time its strict but about the time i come home from work ive got an hour or so as moderate nat type. Dunno why, all my ports are fowarded, everything anyone reccomends doesnt work.
I even put my computer in the DMZ still nothing. Cant explain it.

Well. Maybe you got the same problem i had:

NAT Type Strict because of IPv6. The reason being that port forwarding does not work with IPv6 and you will have a bad NAT Type no matter what you try on your end. Check that up and call your ISP and let them change that to IPv4. In my case they were able to change that in approx. two minutes and my NAT Type went instantly to good.

Call your ISP and ask them to open ports for you.
