I don't see why not. The Centurion and Knights/Samurai are already very far apart, time wise, and the pirate could be focused around swordplay with a gun feat.
I kind of like what OP is describing, actually. (Anyone who's played Chivalry: DW also knows that Pirates were the best designed team)

I genuinely hope the Gladiator leak is fake. As much as I would enjoy playing as a Retiarius, I think the Knight factions needs a Knight hero after getting the Centurion.
I actually love the idea, if it weren't for the fact that a Gladiator isn't really a Knight.
And i'm pretty sure Centurion and Shinobi were leaked from the start.....
In any case, pirates did serve under European monarchs while gladiators really didn't. Gladiators in general aren't nearly as comparable to knights as a centurion would be.
