I didn't pay attention before to what was written about the oddities and their breeding mechanics, but reading through it now, I must say that most of what I found here about it is dead wrong.

The line "chancemutation = XXX" (where XXX is usually an amount around 0.1, maybe 0.05) in an animal's .ini-file determines the chance of bred offspring being an oddity of nature. And even though quite a few animals do have oddities of nature, this is not true for all of them, not by a long shot.

Now, breeding an oddity of nature from normal parents is a matter of sheer dumb luck. Chance. RNG. Call it whatever you want, but that's the sad truth of it. Genetics don't play into this at all, so switching mates won't change your chances.

Things are better once you have adult oddities of nature - as long as they're female. Because the type of the female determines the type of the offspring. There's no mechanic in the game to take the father's "genes" into account. (Remember, genetics don't play into this at all.) Breeding a female oddity of nature will reverse the normal outcome of regular/odd offspring.

For example, if the animal in question has "chancemutation = 0.1" in its .ini-file, there's a 10% chance of any offspring being "odd", while 90% will be normal. If you breed an "odd" female, however, 90% of her offspring will be "odd" like here, and only 10% will be normal.

So, now off to a list of oddities of nature that I can find in my files. (No guarantees that I won't overlook anything, or that they're actually coded into the game. My game is heavily modded and does not contain any oddities any more.)
  1. black goat
  2. black pig
  3. (dark) brown pony
  4. brown saurian
  5. white crocodile
  6. white dromedary
  7. pale pink ("white") flamingo
  8. white elephant
  9. white lion (female only, hasn't been coded into the game, but the texture exists)
  10. white tiger
  11. black panther (as mutation for both leopard and jaguar)
  12. (dark) brown mustang
  13. white bison
  14. white black bear
  15. white gorilla
  16. white hyena
  17. white kangaroo
  18. white rhino
  19. white wolf
  20. white dog (?)

Of course, most horses from the addon2 also have color variations, but those aren't considered oddities of nature, but mere variations.

I cannot find any mods, I've been trying to get some. Where did yours come from?

Uh, the first mods I found were from the old Deep Silver forums, back in the day. There used to be a modpack, which I then decided to keep up to date with every single mod I could find.
Anyway, I also translated it to English not too long ago. (There might be bugs, though, because it's untested. If something goes wrong, feel free to contact me.) The modpack is compatible with any language version, the only "problem", if you want to call it that, is that all added animals will have English names.

Start with the readme file, it should explain how to install this pack.

I know that woolly rhinos are in the codes (but were never used), do they are also in the modpack? And, also, your links seem broken for some reason :/
olympe Jan 23, 2018 @ 4:20pm
The link isn't broken, it's divided by an empty space in the middle. Because otherwise, stupid Steam will delete the link completely. Just copy the whole link into your browser manually and delete the empty space in the middle.

Yes, there should be a wooly rhino in the pack, with several color variations. However, they need to use the 3D-model of the original rhino.
And, no, wooly rhinos weren't in the code. Not at all. Wooly mammoths were, but they were actually used.
(There are some other hidden gems, but without 3D models. Like that button for a starfish (hidden in cast/menu/buildoptions/plants, of all places) or a prickly pear cactus (same place, actually).
chmeier Feb 4, 2018 @ 4:04am
What about animals, that are clearly of odditycolor, but never got a born oddity message and cost the same as the normal ones. I had several white dromedars that should have been oddities but weren't declares as such. Are they better for breeding for oddities than normal ones? Like half oddities?
olympe Feb 4, 2018 @ 5:24am
Okay, first of all: Oddities vs. color variations (without oddity status): There are two different mechanisms around for coding additional colors, oddity of nature or "mutants" vs. normal color varieties (as you can find for most horses from the Horses extension). Both things can be combined, but the results can be a little... odd. (The mutant varietywould be more common than any one non-mutant color variation, and not all animals of the mutant variety would be considered as such.) So, if you're playing with that modpack, you'll have hardly any "real" mutants left in the game, merely color variations that all cost the same.

Second, each female animal is most likely to have offspring of the same coloration, with all other colorations being less common in her offspring. Since genetics isn't a thing in Wildlife Park 2, the variety of the father is of no consequence at all. Which means that female mutants are most likely to have mutant offspring - if you still have some animals with "oddities of nature".

Ok, thanks. (and sorry for the late response).
Also, except the starfish, what others animals are hidden in the codes, but badly never been used?
olympe Feb 4, 2018 @ 3:23pm
Well, the thing is - this starfish isn't even hidden in the code. There's simply a graphic of a button (for buying said starfish), nothing more, nothing less. The same goes for the prickly pear cactus. No .ini-file, no 3D models, no nothing. I don't think they turn up anywhere else, so there's no way to make use of them. (Because Wildlife Park 2 doesn't allow us to add 3D models.)

ETA: Actually, there appears to be a 3D model for the prickly pear cactus (in Cast/Plant). And a texture. Now what???

Stupid me, I must have done something wrong with my game, I can't load it right now. (Probably because I tried to install the level editor?) *sigh* I'll eventually try to re-install the game, but it will be a while. :)
