I wish I could be more absolute than "should" and "in my opinion almost sure" but when you are dealing with computers sometimes things that should work do not after all so I can not say with one hundred percent certainty that it will work by default and will work with compat enabled.
What I will say is this... if this game ends up 'not' working either by default or by right clicking the file and enabling it to be WinXP simulated 'now', then I can guarantee you that rather soon Microsoft 'will' be coming up with an update to back enable old games just like they did for the other platforms in the past.
PS: If you do decide to buy the game and it won't work at all, even with the marking it compatable with an older windows system, I believe you can get a refund from Steam as long as you explain your issue to them. Regardless, if you do buy it please update this thread so that future users can know for sure whether it is indeed working on the system or not.
