Unlocking all maps/content problem, already used the guide (Resolved, at least for what I was trying to do)
I used the guide to unlock all maps for the main game, but the unlocked maps are missing features, or are just a bit off. For example, on the forest maps (from horses I think) the zoo rating is locked at 100 and doesn’t work. In all of the unlocked maps, the researcher cannot research most of the animals/dinosaurs it should, just a handful like Basilosaurus, Smilodon, the prehistoric bird, etc. There are maybe 9 or 10 total available, and none of the dinosaurs are. On some of the maps the researcher can even research things I think that it is not supposed to like the giant squid and giant crocodile. Also, content is missing. The only things I can say for certain are some of the food add-ons for the exhibit like the ambient fish schools and rats; but there could well be more, and it would be rather tedious to try and compile a definitive list. I have tested all of this with both "all buildoptions available" checked and unchecked, and all the above issues persist in both situtations.

So am I experiencing an error here? Did I do something wrong/miss a step when unlocking or just need to reinstall the game? Or is this just as good as it gets. I was really hoping to be able to play on a very large map, which had snow, with all features unlocked. The forest maps from horses would work quite nicely. But none of the original maps which didn't require unlocking quite fit the bill, and the rest are missing features. Any advice?

Huh, normally, the missing "all buildoptions available" check is the culprit for this. (Maybe you accidentally clicked the check twice, or got the wrong one for the sandbox mode?) Of course, you might be able to edit your maps. In some of the older versions, the text for the maps was still in plain text format. But it's rather tedious.. And, unfortunately, two extensions have their maps encoded (Crazy Zoo and Horses.)

Maybe try the "all buildoptions available" check again?

One thing you could do is try to install the good old level editor and create your own map. However, it only works if you have ONLY the base game, Crazy Zoo, Horses and Marine World. You'll have to de-install all other extensions (Dino World, Farm World, My Pets, Diamond Edition, Fantasy) before attempting to install the level editor. (It won't work if you have the other extensions installed beforehand. Trust me on this. It might not work at all, depending on how much the game was changed by the team from Steam. But it's worth a shot.)

Anyway, here's the link for downloading the level editor:
ftp://ftp.kochmedia(dot)com/pub/hotline/deepsilver/wlp2/level_editor/
(replace (dot) with an actual dot/full stop/period.

Thanks for the response, editing the maps actually ended up being really easy. They aren't in .txt, but notepad still opens them, and they were easy enough to find because the guide has the file names. Then it was just a mater of Ctrl-F "mintemp" and changing the number, already tested it and it seems to run fine. Not the perfect solution, but good enough for me.

Not sure what you meant by checked the wrong all buildoptions box for sandbox, I only see one. In any case, it definatly has been checked, went through it a more than once on more than one map to be sure. The button IS working for some items, it just isn't working for 100% of the items on the unlocked maps.

Level editor does sound fun, and I'll probably check it out later, but for now my problem is fixed. Thanks.

Hmmm. I remember that, originally, the base game didn't have that check for "all buildoptions". Maybe things work if you play an extension instead?

And I think I understand what you did. Tell me if I'm wrong, but you edited another large map to have different weather? You might also want to change the maxtemperatur(e) (actual typo in the file!) and probably other settings (fog, wind...)

They added an "all buildoptions" to the base game. I don't know when, but I came across it looking for a solution. And I did try running in the expansions, and had the same problem. I am guessing that it either was an install bug, or steam broke something when they were tinkering with it.

And yes, I edited another very large map to have different weather. I will look into the other settings, thanks for the pointers.
