Co-op and 1 Ship ?
Hello,

Is it possible to play in co-op mode, similar to Sea of Thieves?
For example, could we go on an adventure with a single ship, where one person handles the navigation and the other operates the cannons?
Will we be able to complete quests together?

100%, and you can enable shared quest completion.

That’s good news. Thanks for answering.
1. It is fully possible
2. It is not recommended - only for roleplay or immersion. But if you want to win a fight of course TWO ships - one yours, one of your friend - is way better. You have double fire-power of course and can put ships in a pincer movement ... and it is not difficult to steer and fire one ship alone.
you can but sadly theres no real benefit to doing it that way, its more effective to have 2 ships, they should make it so when someone else is using the cannon it has a faster reload or something to make it worth while

I get your point, but anyway, if I were playing alone, it would have been ship versus ship, and I would have been the one handling both navigation and the cannons.
In this case, I’d like each role to be filled by two players, and it would still be ship versus ship.
Unless, since there are two of us playing, the game will pit two ships against us?

You will mostly have 4 ships against you in fights. Well sometimes 2, but if you unlucky also 6 ships.

That doesnn't scale with the number of players. 3-4 ships is normal in one combat, whether you play solo or duo. So a second ship always helps.

Thanks for the information.
As you mentioned earlier, it’s mainly about roleplay and immersion on one hand, and coordination on the other.

We don’t just want to feel like we’re playing “alongside” each other as friends; we really want to develop the coordination needed to move forward together. We want to depend on each other to keep going.

Slow down there buddy. That fella didn't tell you the entire truth but wanted to make the game he likes look more appealing to you.

Yes technically you can hop on the ship of your friend. But the only thing you can do is do man one of the cannon sides and aim and shoot with them. There isn't anything else in terms of coop activity on the ship because there isn't anything else to interact with on the ship. And as soon you fall into the water, you are basically dead.
So this game isn't built (yet) to be able to sail together like in sea of thieves. By far not. Because SoT has actually a very detailed sailing micromanagement set of mechanics and a ship with several interactable points.
Here basically who mans the wheel, is controlling everything.

So in this game you and your friend(s) will in the end all sail with their own ships next to each other. In a convoy. Just like the enemy does with 3-4 ship big groups.

To be honest you will be more helpfull to each other in different ships than serving as crew/captain on a single. There isn't anything you can do as crew the captain can't do better/faster/easier than you can.

you actually slow the whole process down

Yes, understand. Have fun with the game ... and my other advice: Always have a ROPE with you ;)

Man, this is all so disappointing. :steamsad:
It’s a shame they didn’t include the same co-op features as in SOT. Especially for a PVE-only game.
So crew members can’t repair the ship or anything like that… just control a row of cannons…

You as the captain has different "repair kits" on a special quick bar when on board.

You technically press the button and give your NPC crew the command to repair the ship over time.

Ship repair, firing, steering is designed so you can all do alone in solo PvE ... as I said, you can coop on a ship, but why, if you all could do solo?`

But it is good so, that you all can do solo, because solo players couldn't play without a friend then, or?
you can't swap the cannonball type when you're directly on the cannons instead of at the helm; so if you aim and are about to go for a standard shot, and the captain suddenly swaps the ammo type over to the chain shot (whether by accident or not), you're either gonna whiff or do a lot less damage than expected

similarly; if you're aiming at the enemy sails for a chain shot and suddenly get changed to standard shot... well, that volley is pretty much wasted

No, I get it, but that’s not the kind of game I’m looking for.

Playing alongside your friend—in the end, everyone goes their own way, and no one needs the other.
As has been said, whether there are 1, 2, or 4 of us, there are the same number of ships on the other side, so whether you’re alone or with others, it doesn’t make a difference.

I really wanted a mechanic like Sea of Thieves: “Captain / Crew,” but WITHOUT the mandatory PvP with all the cheaters and griefers.

I’m going to request a refund.
Thanks to everyone for the clarification.

No, you need your team-mate to hunt down another fleet? He can provide you fire protection, encircle enemies and so on?

If you fight on land you also "walk beside each other" and fight enemies everybody on his own? Nobody carries the other player on the shoulder?
