Storyline just... stops?
so, i'm level 24, so far as i know the level cap is 55, but i've run out of story quests. as in, i'm playing a harani, i killed the guy who killed my family, and then the questline just abruptly stops. is there more that i'm missing? or am i supposed to just amble around the world at random for the next 31 levels? there seemed to be a lot of stuff about boats in the intro dream sequence, but the nearest i've got to a boat is i picked up a rowing boat i never used. so, what i'm asking is, is there more story quest anywhere, do i have to go to that third continent in the north of the map or something?

The story just stops. I think XL got tired of working on it. Or maybe they needed some cash before they finished it...?

oh, that's... kinda disappointing... they built up all this lore then kinda gave up on it :(

no the very top quest when u open it is your main story line will always be at the top just follow the green dots around easy to do if lose green dot open map right click and click to area you have not been to normaly find it soon. i was 32 when finshed mine and got cool cape out it

there was no green dot on my map, no quest in my quest log, and no NPC standing around with a green ! over his head. i opened my quest log and had 0 quests... there is no possible way i could have missed the quest if it was supposed to be given in that zone, and since then i've travelled to every place and down every road in that zone and the next and still i see no quest.

what i DID find during those travels was that gliders have a maximum flight time of 3 minutes, as i fell to an embarrasing death.

The last few quests are hard to find for Harani. But yes, at the end of the storyline, you get your first cape. The storyline ends in Silent Forest

i explored the silent forest, but apparently i wasn't high enough level to pick up the last two or three quests, and i literally walked past the questgivers.

i have now. if the devs can't be bothered to finish the storyline then i can't be bothered to get to the endgame and consider microtransactions.

Just so you know, this game was designed as a sandbox MMO, not a themepark as you seem to be accustomed to.

There are other quests to be done, but the reason they didn't require main storyline quests past Silent Forest is because the zone you go to next is on the other faction's continent in a PVP zone.

In a game with open PVP at all times across faction, imagine the potential for trolling. It already happens on non-story quests...
MechSmith May 13, 2015 @ 8:58am
so their response to the fact that the basic design of their game funnelled players into areas ideal for ganking and trolling was to stop the main questline? that's just lazy. cutting out content instead of making it work just shows that the devs don't give a ♥♥♥♥.
zalemz May 16, 2015 @ 2:39am
this game isn't even about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass story so sit ur ass down

remove the story from an MMORPG and what you have is a set of combat mechanics and if they're not that good, no real need to use them. when i story cut off, i looked at what the rest of the game was meant to be... it seemed to be a few main things: grind to get XP so you don't get horribly owned in the open world, do menial resource collection till the world ends to get yourself a boat. use that boat to find the kraken and join a group of kraken slayers so big that your contribution to killing it frankly means just about nothing, and hope it drops loot so that you're better prepared the next time you go and slay it.
side note, if you want to have an end boss that people want to kill, don't announce every hour or so that it's arrived, and then been killed. don't put it on every last loading screen so it loses all its mystery factor, either. really uninspiring.

Okay to actually answer the question, there are TWO points the Harani Quest line doesn't have a 'lead up' quest (a quest which is designed to help a player lead up to the next area for the next quest). The first is after delivering the guy's belongings in Arcum Iris, where the cutscene will tell you to visit Tigerspine.
The second is AFTER killing... I forget his name (not logged in at the moment). You are actually given another quest to help another player with the same quest. You do NOT need to do that other one (it's purely optional). The storyline quest then continues into Silent Forest at the wood cutter's camp.
After that, the story "ends". I say "ends" because you have to remember that is the end of your character's "personal" story. The whole area still has quests and other objectives that are part of the world's story, which the ending (trying not to spoil here) does mention that the quest you just finished is NOT the end.

I don't recall any of the Harani storyline quests happening in the Mahedavi ports (one of which gives you the rowboat). They all seemed situated in Two Towers. If you have't killed the 'person in Villenelle (hint: it's two bosses)' then you missed something.

As for the end boss notifications... the Abyssal event is barely an end boss and isn't the Leviathon you see in the loading screen. Once you hit level 45+ and can find a good raid, the event is a blast depending on your server, owner of a boat or not.

oh, well, it seems i was mistaken about a few of my later points, but i did complete my story questline. thank you for that rather informative answer, though i uninstalled the game about a week ago and... well, now there's the witcher 3, if i want a story driven RPG.

yeah, my storyline stopped... and I just kinda lost interest. Which sucked because I was really enjoying this game. I was like "um - okay. Now what is the reason to continue?" I did for awhile, but then didn't keep playing. I was bummed.

I haven't uninstalled it yet, but probably will...

I'd like to hear an answer from the devs about this.
MechSmith Jul 16, 2015 @ 5:53pm
oh yeah i uninstalled a long time ago. IMO, the first thirty levels were fun enough, bit of a shame it expects you to start grinding for a ship or whatever (forgotten now).

the long and the short of it is that the endgame isn't for everyone, and if it's not for you, there's nothing wrong with going and playing something that is. 'cus games are for fun.
