This game is more about the late game, PVP, trading, and player interactions, but as a physical combat class this game drew me in from the start. Funnily enough, one of my subclasses was occultism which I used to pull mobs (I have changed the subclass, but I still liked that) and debuff before wading into melee.
Mobs path around, they walk, they grumble, some even talk. Some are actively on patrol (trust me, I wish they weren't, getting ambushed in the butt by two centaurs jumping me like PVP kids on a gank fest ain't fun). Some of the one and two star mobs actually patrol entire areas of their zone looking for people to munch on (see the 30-35ish area swamplands.).
I don't like how the firrans look either, but that's why there's two factions? Nuians and elves look gorgeous. makes me very happy. Don't get me wrong, the game isn't perfect, but I don't know any MMO that is to date and it certainly (at least on the nuian side) isn't nearly as flawed as you're trying to make it out to be. Did you even try changing things? It sounds like you didn't try class swaps, figuring out how to combo your moves properly, different races, or anything like that.
Edit: On the topic of voice acting... that is very hit or miss. SWTOR went with tons of voice acting and, even as a roleplayer, I won't lie, I space barred through most of that stuff. This is especially something to note in a game that orients itself around PVP in the late game. What's the point of voice acting if at best you're going to read the chatter in a few seconds and hastily get back to questing because you don't want to get ganked? That's not to say that voice acting doesn't have its place, but if you play the game you'll notice the cut scene story quests that hold you up stop around level 30... RIGHT when you begin to enter combat zones the other faction passes through. The story questline has the voice acting, chatter, and movies. Normal quests do not, because you'd have a bunch of people getting ganked while talking to quest givers if they did (or worse for a PVP-oriented game, having guards posted around every single quest hub).
Tab targeting to focus spells and abilities isn't really a sign of being 'backwards.' It's a style. I prefer non tab targeting combat games as well, don't get me wrong, but this one's pretty fluid with it and from a balancing/PVP perspective I can see why they went with it. It's 'safe' and much easier to balance (*eyes Wildstar*), especially when you're talking about a game with 120 class combinations. One of the main complaints I've heard about in TERA was that healing WASN'T tab targeted, so people dancing in the way soaked up heals they never needed or buffs intended for a tank or the like. From the other perspective, in Wildstar I know I didn't like the fact that, in any pvp that wasn't one on one, I couldn't count on my moves hitting the person DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME because the game seemed to like to pick people at random for my limited number of hits to wallop. No thank you? Tab targeting may be old school, but it is also focused and ensure spells go off on actually intended targets. For now, it works.
That may be true but they still need to make early game enjoyable or everyone will give up before they get to the "good part" as i have.
I already addressed this.
I tried the cat people and the asians. I disliked the femal cat model as it made the front half of their body human with no fur, which just looked weird. The rest of the models/races are boring old humans which is just laziness. I did try class swaping i tried the wizard class and the archery class as mains, archery was slightly better as i could actually move around to stay out of range, but i was still just spamming abilities as they came off cooldown because all of them comboed of eachother.
If this the case why bother having the cutscenes at all if you expect everyone to skip them and they stop at later levels.
I disagree guild wars is a perfect example of what tab targeting shoulb be while this is the same as it was when wow was new. In saying that i realise tab targeting is also a safe bet for mmos to try and minimize lag advantages in pvp.
TY finally a constructive argument they makes me consider starting the game up again.
What even.. how do i evn respond to this idiot.
Ok its clear this community is trash and toxic as the youtube comments, i would be happy to lock\remove this thread if somone told me how. If not i will unsubscribe.
Keep in mind, it is an MMO so you need to be able to interact with others.
A lot also depends how your mentally geared and your ability to handle the younger gaming generation (30yrs and younger) as well being a free to play MMO. They are more instant gratification, looking for quick highs with little patience to wanting to be wowed..
Can't say if this game is for you or not.
The first 3 months is always not really how a game MMO game is, the next 6 is getting there, after 12 months is a good time to see what is what, game mechanic wise and community wise.
All these things are doable and achievable. The game still needs work though.

You actually raise other mounts in the game because they have different effects (donkeys for trade packs as an example). There is also a daily the requires you to raise one for guilda stars. The fact that you say "what the point cause you will only do it once" shows that you are prob not even over lv 10.
And the thing about voice acting, cutscenes etc... just shows that this is prob your first "eastern" mmo of any kind.
In other words: This game is not for you
I have quit because of such things... Amoung them inlcudes the fact that the game encourages griefing and hacking making the community worse then HoN
