Speedboat issue
I had just spent all my gold I had earned to craft a speedboat thinking that maybe it would be worth it. I figured it'd be the equivalent of the car in the sea.

My car goes 14 movement speed up a steep hill, 16 movement speed at a consistent straight road, and 27 movement speed downhill. My speedboat is only going 11 movement speed from north to south and 10 movement speed from east to west, it's slower than my clipper and a merchant schooner.

What is its purpose exactly if it's slower than a merchant ship and a primitive speed ship? If it has any purpose in running packs why hasn't its utility been increased? It feels much too slow to use and I was instantly disappointed on crafting it.

I did a test trade run on it and had a clipper with two people hunt me down and I couldn't outrun them so they just crept up to me and harpooned my boat. There's really nothing a speed boat driver can do against other boats, it's quite useless.

I read somewhere the Korean one is 30 movement speed. Maybe that's too much but decreasing the speed to 10 is not really the answer either, I'd be happy with at least a 15 movement speed so it can actually be usable.

No, the 30 movement speed is for the "hopping" skill (it briefly jumps to that speed upon launch). Speedboat is actually faster than a standard clipper, but you can regrade your clipper's sails to be faster than a speedboat.

Unfortunately, being able to transport trade packs means the Speedboat will probably never be "speedy". The Speedboat is second to the Schooner in being able to transport the most packs on sea and the jump can kind of help with escapes (though the slowdown upon landing is pretty ass). And because there are no real obstacles on the sea, going too fast would be more advantageous than say a car (which really needs to stick to roads to have its full potential).

It's a shame, but the devs probably won't make any of their vehicles go "fast" unless they can rework pirating interactions; if vehicles are too fast, then there's no real way for players to intercept them and steal packs with current mechanics.

That is true but if you regrade a schooners sails it easily leaves the speedboat behind, or a lutesong with trade packs slots too. I was a little distraught when it took me 40 minutes to get from auroria to dewstone from a speedboat and 15-20 minutes on my celestial sail clipper with a propellant. My biggest issue is if most ships can outrun a speedboat then there's nothing you can do once you've been spotted and you might as well just give them your trade packs
