Same issue here.

Try using windows 10 compatibility mode on game's exe file maybe.

The original game was planned for 2010 release after all.

They should call it "Captain Blood: Resurrection"

I can get through the menus and try to start a game but after it gets past the difficulty select screen it crashes to desktop.

I'm on win10 and I also crash on desktop with 3070ti/5800x/32gb. I think the issue might be that I run an ultrawide 3440x1440. Do you guys have that?

I'm encountering the same problem.

Try setting desktop resolution to 1920 x 1080 maybe.

I have 16:10 and weirdly, the issue was solved by launching the game through the exe file, not the Steam's play button

I'm on Windows 10 and the old demo worked. But since it got updated it crashes after a 3-second black screen, back to the desktop.
I've checked the Crash Dump file and it says: "The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access rights."
I tried compatibility mode and admin rights, it doesn't help, the game just refuses to start.
For those that are having issues to launch the game:

Go to the engine.ini file in your root folder and change the "use_vulkan = 0" to "use_vulkan = 1"

This doesn't works for everyone. My gf installed the demo (she uses windows 11 for work purproses) and it launches just fine. I use windows 10 (more stable and better for play) and it doesn't launch at all. There was some kind of progress when i changed the "use_vulkan = 1" line. The loading screen appeared but then it closed (again). What's wrong with the updated demo?
