What made me sad is the very first thing I read. That it's not a complete story, and there's no plans to finish it. So that right there made me decide to never purchase this game. I don't want to play it, love it, but then become disappointed because there will never be a finish.
I honestly don't get why it was release on Steam as well, if it's never going to be finished. Why port an incomplete project?? The fact that a studio does this also taught me to question everything made by this company from now on.
But if they decide to actually pick this project back up, I won't lie, I will buy the game. Because it looks great. :D :(
trust me, it IS a good game, even if it's easy. the fun from the game, for me at least, was the exploration, the art style, and the lore of the world (plus your mythical creature can romance another mythical creature, though it's just for dialogue and not really anything "intimate"). I love this game so much that if I took it as seriously as I would when I was younger, I'd probably shed a tear knowing they don't plan on finishing it.
seriously it's just heartbreaking to me as someone who was invested in my character and the story and wanted to get my resolution. I absolutely HATE seeing great games like these get the shaft and never get sequels or spiritual successors while we have the same day to day Triple A titles and monotone games like CoD over and over again. honestly the frustration of this knowledge that the game's story won't be finished is, strangely, inspiring me to go back and work on a YouTube web series I was going to do about underrated games and hidden gems.
It's a sad day in the gaming world when a tragedy like this is making me want to do something about it, but maybe I can help somehow...who knows.
also idk if it's going to help any now that it's fallen off of the front page first 10 spot...but here's hoping I'm wrong and it sells really well and the devs have a change of heart....I really want this badly.
The point is, I dunno, maybe letting people buy it?
I never heard of this game before it came to Steam, and even if I did, I wouldn't buy it elsewhere because I almost exclusively play via Steam. Thanks to developers releasing it on Steam, I was able to buy and play this lovely little game
Yes, sequel would have been nice, but even if there won't be one, it doesn't mean this game isn't worth buying and playing as a stand-alone game.
well if you want it to feel like it's own stand-alone game then don't reach the ending where it pretty much says "WAIT UNTIL PART 2" which clearly doesn't exist and will never come. I loved this game back in the PS3 and I love it here, but that doesn't mean I won't criticize the developers for releasing the game here in order to make a profit when there's no plans on making the sequel. this is just an insult to those who invested their time and money when it was on consoles by reminding them the sequel will never come, and it also looks like a sneaky way to make money off of PC gamers that have never seen it before.
Lol dont be so upset, you are rushing yourself to deep into this.
Main problem is, Spiders/Spider Studio is a small studio, they have limited resources and put the most erfort possible in any of them games. So they use all the money they got to get the best results.
And they have many ideas and interests they want to publish. So keeping all resources for an trillogy is very dangerous, specialy when the money they get from the users is not as much as they hoped.
Im not sure how popular Faery is, but i know many players play AAA rated games and abuse jewels like Faery becouse it is not from a big known studio.
So dont fume about the studio that rather want to survive then doing a sequel, fume at the players who are blinded by big publisher games.
Spiders do great games and i enjoyed everyone of them games.
And thats why this game is on Steam, becouse you loved to play it, and becouse Spiders need money, for the next beautiful game they made. And maybe, only maybe, if some day they get a real hit and big money, then they maybe have the cash to do sequels for Faery.
Or maybe they add a little free DLC putting an short rushed end to the Faery story.
They need to seriously consider returning to this and finishing it, they would definately have my support. What is there is pretty awesome.
