Although I've posted some of this here already, I think it's worth repeating for anyone who's either just bought this game, or is considering doing so...

I've just finished playing Faery - Legend of Avalon after a good few hours of fantastic faerie fun, only to be disappointed by the cliffhanger ending. It would've been pretty awesome, if only there was another instalment to look forward to (as the ending implies), but according to the official forum[forum.faery-thegame.com], Focus Home Interative (the publisher) unfortunately deemed the game unsuccessful (i.e. unprofitable) and cancelled any further development:

So, here is the deal:

There will never be a sequel.

Faery received too poor reviews and wasn't sucessful enough to be continued. There will be no DLC, no add ons, zip. Faery has been cancelled, and will not continue. So that ending, yeah, that's all you get.

There won't be a sequel. I guess we have stopped believing in faeries after all!

However, I don't regret a single moment I spent playing Faery - Legends of Avalon. The gameplay is pretty simplistic, but the references to mythology and literature often had me literally laughing out loud, and there's a misanthropic undertone that makes the player quite embarrassed to be human!

This game is old, has no voice acting (yep, you have to be able to read) and cheap... but -- by Oberon -- if you delight in subtext, you'll get a kick out of this. Oh, and you'll fly through the game. Literally!

Hmm... curious minds do ponder. This game may be old, but if we could get some modders on this? We may be able to add new lands, stories, adventures and possibly voice acting; still we will need a professional modder's opinion. So hello community :) Anyone out there that has the brain power of the Nexus to build us some professional mods?

(Slight spoilers) I wish for sequel aswell, but maybe they didn't even know how to continue - the character ending decision was quite huge so they would have to build up 2 versions of everything, so I don't know, maybe it is not possible and this ending is perfect after all. Or maybe 1 more world with doing all the quests but the ending question would be for whom, or maybe it would have to be moved into human world (they keep talking about absence of humans) and I'm not sure if human world would be all that interesting. I would be interesting to see how it was meant to continue.

they never finished it way back on ps3, and then released it on steam. they knew it wasn't finished, and had no plans to finish it.... ♥♥♥♥ spiders

There's so much that could be done with this game -- more mirrors/worlds, etc.
I love the lore/research that went into this game, and I LOVE the Brian Froud-like art style.
I had this on my PS3 for years, LOVED IT, but was disappointed with the ending with it back then, wondering if that's actually how it ends or not. So, I just got it for the 360, as well, to see if it ends the same. Not finished with it yet, but by what others say here it seems to end the same -- abruptly. Not. Finished.
This game deserves an Operation Rainfall-like petition. I'd get involved again.

Thats sad to read, i actualy realy like the game, to be fair, it was realy boring at start but with the start of the first mirror world it became realy great. I was still missing some more fighting in the game, it would be nice to have some respowning enemies in the dungeons to test abilities with different equipment setup or just to level up, the ending seemed very forced to me, i was expecting to activate the other mirrors too. Well it was fun to play, i sure will play again to check out the other abilities. I hope it will be continued some day
