**IMPORTANT** FATE working on Windows 10!!

Hey all! I know that until recently, not FATE games had been working on Windows 10 machines, but today that has (hopefully!) ended! There is an update for Windows 10 (my computer automatically prompted me to update) and after the update I tried launching the game and boom! It worked 100% fine! I don't know if this is old news at this point, but I was able to get the game to work just by updating Windows 10. Hopefully this works for all of you too! Side note, I only tried this with Traitor Soul, and not Cursed King. I would assume that Cursed King works as well, but I cannot be completely sure.

You need to update Windows 10 to the latest version. My computer automatically prompted me to do it, and afterwards this game (which had previously not worked) started working. Try doing that and see if it works.

Just crashes for me. Win 10, latest updates as of 1/30/2016. My steam install is the regular install of Undiscovered Realms, I haven't opted into any betas or anything (I don't think there is any for Fate).

I tried the windowed mode hack a while back, and it sort of works, but the text is basically unreadable and pulling some of the char sheet windows up just shrinks the interface to some random part of the screen.

The way the output looks makes me strongly suspect Fate just isn't using the graphics memory right. Unfortunetly that's as far as I can get without source code. Looks like we just have to wait for the devs to figure it out and patch it. Again. :(

I love the game when it's working, but this whole win 10 breaking the game thing is really old.

ya i just got the update 2 days ago and i didnt think anything about this game and i lost hope for it and i never deleted it off of my desktop and i thought might as well try it and sure enough it works thats real good news that it works now

For those that it works for, how are you launching it, and what region/language is your Win 10 in? Also, what's your hardware specs? I know that's a lot of questions, but it still crashes for me and I've been trying to narrow down what's wrong.

I updated windows to the latest they have for me today but fate still crashes with the dreaded "this program will now exit" error box. Tried verify cache, tried restarting the computer. Been running it through the steam interface "play" button each attempt.

How did you get it working? Or is this one of those just random things where it just works or doesn't? I had it working in Win 7 on this same exact system a few months back, but ever since the upgrade to 10 it just crashes. Boots up to a white screen with the error message box in the center, which simply says the program will now quit and has an OK button. Can't get further then that.

Intel Core 2 @ 2.66Ghz
6 GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275

Yeah it was not working for me. States "Application Error the program will now exit" and Windowa still tells me its incompatible and it does not matter if I run it in Win 8,7 XP compatiblity mode.

So go to the WildTangent link below it descibes what to do and also provides a config.dat file for you to download, it worked for me.

So...looks like I will have to decide which computer I am playing on then. I currently have been using steam's cloud saving to play on both my laptop and desktop at random, both running at different resolutions. (One has a 1080p monitor, the other is old and has a smaller strange resolution with a very odd supported list of heights. You'll never guess which is what, lol.)

From what I understood of that article, I'm only going to get to change the resolution once, and that is stuck on my save. Which sounds like steam cloud is going to mess this up badly if I try running at two different resolutions on the two computers with the single character save.

I kind of want to try it anyway, after backing up my fate save file, of course. I guess I can report the results of my experiment here when I get to actually doing it. FOR SCIENCE.

4/20/2016 still not working, it's really pissed me off a bit.

6/20/16 and it works perfectly on Windows 10! I ordered the Fate bundle from WildTangent on Amazon, installed it, and it works great. I'm even able to increase the resolution without problem. Great game!

Haha this worked thanks to wildtangent doing somewhat of their job and at least posting a dat file and where to put it. I was able to change the game to fit my screen looks full screen. :)!

The config works for me 1st time I play, then crash. After I delete my save game and replace config file it will work again for 1 gameplay, then crash :(

Mine will work if I edit the config file before playing, change fullscreen to 0. Sadly I have to do this before every launch, but I'm just happy it works!
