What screen resolution are you running?
You might also try adding -window as a command line parameter and see if that does anything.
http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.com/2011/06/ultimate-fix-your-broken-game-checklist.html
Unfortunately nothing works. I tried restarting, tried changing resolution (currently I have 1600x900), tried running as Administrator, in different compatibilty mode, also tried with "-window" and "window", tried reinstalling the game.
I didn't tried to run on stationary PC, but I suppose that it will work there. Unfortunately I have laptop connected to TV with xbox controllers, so it is perfect from the couch :)
I will check for newer drivers for graphic cards. Also I can try to run it on other computer and stream to laptop, but it is all just workaround unfortunately...
Are there any log file, why it crashes?It stays few seconds in the memory (I can see it on process list) and then it just disappears.
Go the the folder where Steam installed the game. For me, it's:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\HiddenInPlainSight
Create a text file called hips.txt, and paste this into it:
hiddeninplainsight 2>out.txt
Rename the file from hips.txt to hips.bat
Run the batch file (double click it). See if this creates a file called "out.txt" when the game crashes. Post the contents of that file here, if so.
I tried your solution for output, and this is the result:
Wyjątek nieobsłużony: System.InvalidOperationException: Song playback failed. Please verify that the song is not DRM protected. DRM protected songs are not supported for creator games. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: An unexpected error has occurred.
--- Koniec śladu stosu wyjątków wewnętrznych ---

w PlainSight.ScreenManager.Initialize()
w Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.Initialize()
w Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.RunGame(Boolean useBlockingRun)

My translation of polish words :)

Can you try installing Windows Media Player (did you uninstall it?) and try again?
I don't remember uninstalling it but who knows :)
At first I found out that there is no WMP for Windows 8.1
After a quick search i found that: Control Panel -> Programs and functions -> Media -> Windows Media Player box was unchecked. I checked it, quick auto-update and the game works!
Great, thanks!
Glad it works!
