Resolution problems with borderless windowed
I'm playing at 1440p. In dedicated fullscreen, it's fine. In borderless, the game itself seems to be at 4k while the window is 1440p. I can only see a quarter of the game.

I'm having trouble explaining properly, so here's a photo.[ibb.co]

Native resolution is 4k, but my desktop resolution is 1440p. No amount of settings fiddling or ini editing has helped so far.

EDIT: While googling, I found someone having the same issue with an older Assassin's Creed game, and the solution was to set Windows desktop scaling to 100%. Just to preempt that suggestion, I already have the scale set to 100%.

Thank you! Loving the game, but this is a bit of a bummer.

Hey cornslop,

Thank you for your question and sorry to hear it.

Just to understand it better.
Is your monitor's native resolution 4k or 1440p?
I see in the screenshot its model is AOC U2790B, so all I find says 4k.

Why do you set your desktop to 1440p on a 4k screen? I understand this is your decision but does that not distort the picture quality?

As for the scaling, can you provide a screenshot of how this is set up in Windows Display, please?

Also, in your screenshot, we can see the display is set to borderless but we cannot see the resolution.

I only assume, the borderless defaults to your native screen resolution of 4k but gets "confuses" by the 1440p you mentioned the desktop is set to.

Try changing desktop to 4k and use Windows Display scaling to 200% if the picture if too small. Test how the game will behave then.

The native resolution is 4k.

For performance reasons. I would rather all games default to 1440p.

It does not, at all. They're the same aspect ratio and 1440p is still a high resolution. Picture quality is great.

Sure![i.ibb.co]

It does default to 4k. Changing it to any other resolution does nothing. I just tested this -- put it into borderless windowed and changed the resolution to 720p. It still looks identical to the picture I uploaded.

Try changing desktop to 4k and use Windows Display scaling to 200% if the picture if too small. Test how the game will behave then.
I'm not going to change my desktop resolution for one game. Every other game handles this perfectly well. I appreciate the suggestion, but that's not an acceptable fix.

Thanks, cornslop.

That's fine, I am not going to push you to change the screen resolution.
You mentioned that editing the ini file did not change anything.
Did you try to delete it completely and launch the game again?

If nothing will make the borderless mode to keep your desktop 1440p resolution, I would advise to stick with the dedicated full screen instead for now.

We will pass this feedback on further, but I cannot promise it will be resolved soon.

Deleting the ini file didn't help, unfortunately.

Thank you! Of course these things take time. If there's anything I can do or info I can provide to help diagnose what's going on, let me know.

Hi cornslop,

I'm sorry to hear that deleting the ini file did not help.

If we need any further information from you we will let you know, thanks.
Sorry to revive this thread, but I figured it’d be good to jump in for anyone else still dealing with this issue. (As of today, it’s still not fixed.)

What’s worked for me is playing in Windowed mode (not borderless) at my desired resolution, 1080p in my case, then using Borderless Gaming to force it into a borderless window. No issues so far.

Hi Go D. Usopp, thanks so much for sharing your workaround! It’s great to hear that using Windowed mode and Borderless Gaming has worked for you. This could definitely help others facing the same issue. If you have any future questions or issues, please feel free to reach out ☺️
