Yeah, I think in the end - the real decision was between Origins/ Mirage only.. but I guess I wanted a flavour of what new things they tried in Origins.
I'm disappointed that there's no multiplayer apparently?
I've already beaten Origins and I'm currently playing Mirage. So far, Origins has been a lot more fun for me throughout the entire story line. Right now, I'm having a hard time trying to stick to playing Mirage. I'm only 7 hours into it. Gonna try to stick with it. GL in Origins!
Mirage feels like a bit of a throwback to the original ac games, more confined less about rpg mechanics and combat and more about stealth.
This! Would also rec. Origins & Odyssey. maybe get also Mirage because its pretty short and more to the older games.
But Valhalla is pretty grindy and its stretches like chewing gum the longer u play haha
Ideally you'd buy all four of them as they build the overall story of Assassins' Creed.
While you can play each of them as a stand alone adventure, starting with Origins and playing through to Mirage follows a cohesive story line for the Modern day hidden ones.
Although it's not really that important if you follow the Modern day storyline as it's not really a big part of the games
The result is
I ended up refunding Origins and bought Assassin's Creed III remastered and Black Flag even tho I partially know their stories
I opened up Origins, I was fine with how it looked and all AND MY GOD THE MAP IS A JAW DROPPER.
But I just didn't like the way characters gave dialogue in a non immersive way. In the opening section when you're given a Camel-like animal to ride.. that part when I had to follow him and just the whole thing about the animal being so large and moving swiftly - - brotherhood had horses which gallop properly and had a certain realistic way of moving about.
And finally it was immersion breaking to see the guy talk about how people are distressed then proceeds to run over them with the Camel he's riding.
I feel these are very much PETTY gripes but yeah, if I get over them I will buy this game cuz the map was larger than anything I had ever seen
I'll keep that in mind! In the meantime, I will finally finish up Desmond's story
You can get a horse instead of the camel, here's a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCBO6gakWSY . I get it the camel doesn't really look like it's moving like a large animal, but more like a pony. But it's just an arcade game at the end not a simulator of some sort, there's other more immersion breaking stuff in the game like a magic guided arrow...
And don't get mislead by the map size it means nothing, if anything it just means it has a lot of filler missions in it like collecting stuff.
As far as AC3 and Black flag goes, they have great world settings, but the characters feels very cluncky to move around (this started AC3 and it lasted till Syndicate), the ship combat in Black flag and even the little bit in AC3 is great though. In comparison the characters in Origins and Mirage feel much more responsive to move around, they look and feel much more agile, which is kinda ironic for Origins when it's not a real assassin game.
