No point, this game uses Ubisoft Launcher to launch it. When you run it on Steam then it first opens up Ubisoft Launcher and then runs the game. You just add an extra step by having it here, I only bought it on Steam as it was on the Christmas sale but it wasn't on sale at Ubisoft Launcher for some reason.
If there's a ubisoft outage you still won't be able to play your Steam version.

I understand it's ideal to consolidate your libraries as much as possible, the best solution on Steam is to go to the store page for the game and click the little arrow next to ignore this game and then select 'I have played this on another platform' so you don't accidentally rebuy it in the future and double-up. Before they added this I doubled up on some EA/Ubisoft games myself.
The retroactive achievements was just a curiosity question by OP and not the main point of his post. Obviously he isn't buying the whole game again *just* for the Steam achievements, Steam doesn't have any level ups/trophy count/gamerscore/etc attached to your achievements and he doesn't even have a public profile.
