Why does this cost money now?

Serious question. I have it on my android tablet. What's the difference now? Is it a single player game or is still the same game from before?

it's basically a premium version of the game, with almost everything you would need to pay for in the mobile version, obtainable with in-game currency.
it's the switch version, but with better graphics.
according to reviews, they just need better optimization with the controls for mouse and keyboard

The only main problem with the PC optimization is that it is almost non-support keyboard + mouse style.
The keyboard itself is supported.
Mouse (and mouse cursor control) is not supported and there are no keyboard key configurations.

Other than that, I think the only other thing is that there are only two resolutions(720p, 1080p).

Well no, as of right now I think there's only like 5 or 6 outfits? You can buy stuff like lest flowers, heart candies, magic makeup, etc without paying for it in irl money tho.
So basically you can all the gacha crap with in-game currency.

I don't know why my comment got mixed in with quoting yours, to be clear, none of the gacha items from mobile are in the game as of right now.
