What Types of Guys Do You Normally Go For in Otome Games?
What types of guys or routes do you normally go for? What type do you prefer more? And what types of routes do you find yourself in that you didn't mean to pick?

I usually find myself on the routes with arrogant guys or disdainful ones. I never set out to pick them but I seem to be drawn to them lol. I prefer the charming or intelligent ones the most. But I always seem to get dragged into the routes where the guy treats you like dirt/a peasant/ or unable to make your own decisions. It's vexing! Plus, the guys with dark hair! I prefer them almost %100

I am a sucker for tsunderes I guess. I never consciously set out to pick them, but I guess I take it as a challenge. XD I will make you love me, just wait.

Although I am also a sucker for characters with eyepatches, and characters with white hair.

I never was into white hair but the more otomes I play, the more it's growing on me. Dark hair though! I don't know why though. I don't mind cat-like ears either, like in Once Upon A Fairy Love Tale on mobile. The Red Riding Hood Prince is my favorite in that one.

I tried to play that, but I just get frustrated with mobile otoge. I refuse to go broke with microtransactions but I am also not patient enough to play through at a snail's pace for free XD

I also like the dark haired guys. I just don't go for blonde much, but I think that has to do with the fact that the blonde characters are usually either the brotherly type or the flirty womanizer which are two types I don't so much go for. There are always exceptions however.

I get pretty frustrated with the micro transactions routes too and usually only play them right before bed, when I know I'm too tired to read very much or fire up my Ps Vita. I got to the cut off on one of the stories in another mobile otome and it was at such a good part! I don't go for the womanizer guys at all because I want the MC to feel like she's the only one, not one among many lol
My favorites in games seem to almost always be the guys I'm least interested in at first, so if I had a type then maybe whoever most surprises me???

Or give me someone mentally disturbed who I have to puzzle out. Trying to understand a character is the best way for me to learn how to love them.

Love interests in games are a weird thing for me since in real life I love to be around kind, mature people who proactively engage you in conversation.

*grabs head* this questionnn

Haha, I can relate! I love to be around guys who are kind, understanding, gentle, flirty... but not the arrogant ones. But in otome games there are always the ones I see and on sight really like them. I don't enjoy their routes very much though

Haha, I'm the same way! I never plan it, but in the end I've noticed I'm drawn to them a lot more. I also really like the darker characters where you maybe start off on the back-foot but then your character grows on them. The thing with these characters though is that for me they have to be done right. I don't like the MC just letting themselves be walked all over, they have bite back. :Raider:

On the other side of the spectrum, I’m also a fan of the lovable sort of idiot type. I have a bit of a soft spot for them.

When you say lovable idiot type the first guy that comes to mind is Impey from Code:Realize Guardian of Rebirth. He's so fun, and such a treat!

I tend to go after the polite, smiling, mature guys who seem to have their stuff together. For some reason, this also means that they're the most likely to try to kill me later. (Appearance-wise, I go for the guys with the prettiest hair, and they also turn out murderous a lot, even if they might get blood in their beautiful locks.)

My favorites sometimes end up being the guys I save (okay, put off) for last because I initially find them boring or unappealing, so it's fun to see how I feel after completing everyone's routes. I tend not to compare guys from different games to each other, except as "Boyfriend Who Killed Me Repeatedly in Game 1" vs. "Boyfriend Who Killed Me Repeatedly in Game 2."

I don't think I'm a yandere-chaser, but maybe I'm a lifelong yandere-chasee. Alas, I'm resigned to my fate at this point.

I really like glasses, but most of those characters are rather stuck-up so.. no. But the quiet ones, or the childhood friends are usually who I start with. Sometimes I just go by whose design is the most interesting to me though. Depends on the game.

It depends on the game, but I tend to like "players", "overly-jealous/yandere" and "villain" types. Characters that are too stuck-up or arrogant can get annoying, though. No "lols your such an idiot I must bully you into a severe depression" types. Despite liking twisted and disturbing, I'm not into sadists who love torturing the player character more than they love her. As in they seem to see her as the same level as garbage. There has to be some "love" on their part, however twisted and weird it seems.

Appearance wise... I'm not partial to any hair colour or such. I do like sharp, villainous eyes but no glasses please. Also, I don't like characters that look too young. Boyish is fine, looks-lika-a-12-year-old isn't. Don't like it when they're a lot older than the heroine either.

I was playing The Oriental Bride of The Emperor last night on mobile and I can definitely see the appeal of a character wearing glasses. Shiyou really brings it in them :) I also tried Yukiya in Wizardess Heart+ and he's my first route with an eyepatch. I didn't think I would be into it but I'm really enjoying it! It's a very nice change from the routes where you're called and idiot, stupid, and the like. I always seem to like the guys on those routes look at first sight but once I'm in it realize the error of my ways.

I second the last part of that. If they look too young it's super unappealing. Like Yeonho in Nameless for example. I had to play the route to unlock the true ending but I didn't really enjoy any of it. Even though he was the same age as the MC, it felt weird because he looked l2. ._.

My favourites are the one's who act really calm aloof but when you get to know them they reveal that they have no idea what they're doing half the time and get embarressed super easily around you. Blonds are usally my favourite, though hair colour is by no means a dealbreaker. What I can't stand is when the guy gets really possesive and doesn't let the MC talk to other guys. In my mind they don't respect or trust her enough to let her live her life and that is a huge turn off for me. Plus anything abusive like hitting her or doing whatever they want without consent will ensure I don't finish their route.

i like the cute guys, but somehow always get caught up int the most evil guy in there, mostly i end up with the bad end where i either die or end up as some wierd zombie girlfriend to them. but hey can't wait for the release!!
