Error message: Couldn't initialize Directx!

I've played this game on several other computers, but now I'm having trouble playing it on my new PC. When I try to start the game I'm getting a message that says, "Please make sure the Directx Redistributable is installed." I found a solution in the Steam community, but it's from 2015 and is not working for my Windows 10 pc. tried to install directx manually from the game file, but it's not in there. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks tukkek. I fixed it by installing The Stanley Parable. When installing it, Directx was automatically installed. I'm now able to play The Biginner's Guide. Oddly enough.

I'm on windows 10, which claims DirectX is packaged with the OS, and also ran into this. I fixed it without installing the Stanley Parable by running Dxsetup which was included in the Steamworks Shared package , which for me is located at:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe"

Hope it helps someone in the future.
