Has potential
The game has potential and clearly an established vision, but it is very clunky and has some odd elements. The fighting combos do not mesh well with eachother and the animations feel odd, but if this is an early build, they're not bad at all for where it is at being playable; What is not good though is how comical and theatrical it all feels. I would suggest finding an end goal to work towards, perhaps draw some inspiration from action movies.

For example some of the finisher moves are just ridiculous. Kneeing a person 5 times in the head, some of the other ones, they're kind of ridiculous. To compare, and not to be unfair, Sifu had some good, seamless, and relatively satisfying execution/finisher moves.

So far, the ones in the demo, are lengthy and feel like they are trying to be angry or aggressive.

I'm all for a brawler style game, but so far the style is not there. I also don't know about the boss fight, fighting a guy with a chainsaw? what kind of psychotic band of murderers killed the protagonists family? What was their motive? Did they butcher them up?

I'm also not a huge fan of the unnecessary swearing and hatred from the enemies, i think tone it down, make them more goofy and stupid than just angry and violent and hateful. I want to beat up bad guys, not feel like I'm ridding the world of unredeemable monsters. They're just not relatable, at least what I got from the demo.

These guys have no reason to just hate me on sight. What was cool about Sifu, is you were brawling through a series of goons to get to the boss, they did not necessarily despise you, and some times they would cower to the side to let you pass, or so a fight with you as an honorable challenge, like a duel.

The demo felt like I was brutally beating on some underhand operation from a labor union or gang. I don't know how to describe it, but like the Yakuza series, I did not feel personally hated by the people I fought through, they were more like goons, throwaways.

I don't think I'm describing this point well but I like the idea:
- Animations are clunky but good sign of direction
- Fighting style seems unrealized and not practical or engaging, would love to see a good brawler moveset from a good source material.
- Finisher/executions are trying way too hard to be serious, aggressive, edgy and are just silly and comical. Aim for something more streamlined while still having that good brawler beat-down. Does the protagonist really despise each individual person enough to knee them 5+ times to the face? Or slam a persons whole body onto their knee? Gotta protect your knees man, you're going to need them to redeem your family.
- Goons too hateful and unredeemable, too armed and too aggressive for no reason.
- Bosses? seem too ridiculous and horror-like. Dunno why dude had a chainsaw, felt unreal. Give them some cool weapon/style like they have some intelligence to them, like swinging chains or something.
- Make enemies disagreeable but not like scum of the earth hateful, vicious, or just mean.
- Ditch the med-kits, or find another solution than distributed med kits. Some 'resolve' or 'second wind' system works great for these sort of quest for vengeance games. If not, have character start out with bandages they bring from their appartment? Dunno why protagonist is looking for med kits in some labor factory, or why med kits are around some guy with a chainsaw.
- Guns were interesting but I seldom use them in games like this, I like to overcome enemies with weaponry with technique. Maybe simplify their integration and stick to lock-on shooting. having over the shoulder and full-auto weapons feels like, what kind of game is this if I can just mow-down a group of goons.

Hopeful, would love a more gritty beat-em-up going for that street-brawler style.

Thank you for the feedbacks! We're actually working on replacing all the fighting animations with new one, now that we have a proper animator who just joined our team. The new animations will approach more on Pencak Silat from the movie The Raid. Hopefully it'll be ready Asap. :)
