I can move but can't fight!

Whether I use my Xbox controller, or keyboard, I can move my character but can't attack or block. There's what looks like a film reel at the bottom of the screen, with an icon in the first box and a red square that constantly moves from left to right. Every time the red square starts at the left my character does an 'attack' move, then a timer runs above his head while the red square moves across the film reel again! I so want to play this game, but surely this cannot be right! Is this a bug or is it me?

lol that's literally how survivors genre work, your character does auto attacks at intervals.

it rotates through your combo then there's a cooldown then it rotates through again. all you have to do is move/position yourself to hit stuff and try not get hit.

Maybe you should have played the tutorial where this is literally explained?

Well THAT sucks. I wanna actually kick some ass! Not just move around and have ass kicked automatically.
