1) Controller isn't recognized / Input issues

Xbox360 and Xbox One controllers should work by default. Depending on the controller brand, you might need to resort to x360ce (a free program that emulates xinput, the drivers for Xbox controllers).

If you have multiple controllers plugged in your computer, try unplugging all but one BEFORE starting the game.

If possible, try updating your controller drivers.

And in case you have drivers for other input devices (Arcade joysticks, Wiimotes, etc.), try disabling them because those extra drivers might interfere with the game's input!




2) Game won't start. "Unexpected Error".

First, try updating your drivers (audio, video, controllers).
If the issue persists, try updating your .NET framework and DirectX.
If that doesn't work, please try another Game Maker game on your computer just so I can
be sure if this is an issue related to the engine. I'd suggest something like Momodora 2, which you can get for free here: http://rdein.itch.io/momodora-ii

If the problem only happens in Momo 3, tell me if that error occurs before, during, or after the "Momodora 3" splashscreen is displayed.



3) Game doesn't start

As with previous issues, make sure you have the latest updates in your computer (video, audio drivers).
Also make sure there's no program interfering with the game. Try running the game with as few programs open and see if that helps. I've seen reports that MSI Afterburner won't allow Momo 3 to start, too.
This could also be happening because your computer lacks a file called "msvcr120.dll".
I suggest looking in Microsoft's website for the Visual C++ Redistributable. Installing that should put that missing dll in your computer.
Note: you might need to move the msvcr120.dll file to the game's directory. You can find the installed dll in your Windows/System32 folder.


4) Game won't start. "Failed to initialize drawing surfaces."

As with 2, try running Momodora 2 and check if the problem is exclusive to Momodora 3.
You might try updating DirectX, reinstalling/updating your video drivers.
If possible, check if your graphics card's hardware acceleration is off (it should be on).

This issue might also come up if you try to run the game with Steam Link. This game's engine doesn't support Steam Link, so unfortunately the game will not work if you try that.


5) The input configuration is messed up / I can't control anything anymore in the game.

Look for the file "momo.config.ini" in the folder where you installed the game and open it. Replace the contents with:

then save the file and restart the game.



6) Framerate Problems

First, make sure your computer is running the game using the correct graphics card. Depending on your setup, the game might run using the default integrated card, which could result in slowdown. Make sure the game is running with your prefered graphics card.

In general, make sure everything is updated. DirectX, .NET framework, drivers for audio, video and controller drivers.

If you have a controller plugged in, try unplugging it and running the game and see if the issue is fixed.

Slowdown can also be caused by background programs interfering. It's hard to point out exactly what could be causing it, so I suggest running the game with as few programs open as possible and see if that helps.

Other potential solutions:
-Disabling display scaling on high DPI on the game's .exe file (Properties -> Compatibility -> Disable display scaling on high DPI).

-Try disabling the Steam Overlay and Steam's FPS counter.

-Running the game in compatibility mode (Win XP or 7)

-Restarting your computer



7) The Steam Overlay looks strange

That's a limitation in this game's engine, unfortunately. Sorry about that!



8) Achievements aren't unlocking

Make sure you are running the game from Steam, and not from your computer's folders. You need to launch the game from Steam to be able to trigger achievements correctly.

Also, make sure the Steam Overlay is activated.

If achievements aren't unlocking even when the game is launched from Steam, please create a topic in these forums!

Infelizmente tenho tido o mesmo problema que alguns relatam de aparecer a logo por um segundo e o jogo não abrir.(Já tentei todos os procedimentos comentados por aqui sem sucesso) , adiciono um feedback curioso pois consegui rodar o jogo apenas na primeira vez , posteriormente o erro se iniciou.

Da primeira vez funcionou por isso estranhei , eu reiniciei quando não estava mais abrindo para atualizar as coisas e etc ( tentar fazer funcionar). Engraçado que o Momodora 1 e 2 funcionam normalmente.

Entendo , pior que foi eu fechar o jogo e quando quis abrir denovo o terror começou haha... mas os 113 minutos testados me deixaram com gostinho de quero mais . Bom agradeço a atenção des de já o/

Infelizmente esse problema tem sido um pouco frequente ultimamente e eu não faço ideia do que possa ser a solução. A última sugestão que eu posso te dar é remover alguns dispositivos (por exemplo, gamepad, webcam) e verificar se o jogo abre corretamente.

Caso não funcione, você pode pedir o reembolso do seu dinheiro pela Steam.

Só gostaria de avisar que o problema foi resolvido, não sei se foi alguma atualização do jogo, mas agora o jogo abre normalmente.

Na verdade não houve nenhuma atualização do jogo em si, pode ter sido algo por parte do seu sistema/windows/placa de vídeo/algo do tipo. Enfim, bom saber que está funcionando!

I wrote"check game-file", I think it means "Verify integrity of game" because i took so step.
I did it many of times, but it did not work well.
