How to reset Ryse: Son of Rome?
Hi there,

I purchased Ryse: Son of Rome (RSOR), created a character and played a short bit.

My nephew got a hold of the game. He got so far into I just let him finish it out. He finished it the other day. I am interested in playing it now.

I started the campaign over and quickly realized something: all of the achievements and everythign he bought is still present!! I want to earn everything, not play with everything he earned.

How do I reset RSOR such it is like no one has played it before and so I can start from scratch?

Thanks!

Go to files C:drive: ProgramFiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Ryse Son of Rome and delete the file. You will then have to reinstall Ryse, and everything should be reset except for achievments as that is Steam not the games local files.

As Governor Posh said, Achievements cannot be reset, as those are handled at the Steam account level, rather than by the game itself.

lol, to me happened the opposite: I played up to chapter IV, normally quitted the game, and the day after any ingame progress was lost. I had to restart from scratch with rank 0, 0 exp and ability. Only steam achievemnts survived. And i didn' touch any game file or used 3rd party programs.

The only thing i changed is that i plugged an xbox controller, that must have messed something.

Thanks for the responses fellas. I've deleted the game's folder and am redownloading it as I type this.

I can live with the steam achievements being left behind. The problem was everything my nephew purchased was still in the game. I was starting over from scratch so I wanted to get the "first time played" feeling which meant I had to earn money and such to purchase everything and then make the actual purchase.

I've been trying to do this too. I played through the initial sequence a couple of times to get the hang of the controls before I realised valor and upgrades weren't reset. I don't really care about achievements as they don't affect the game, but without being able to start again from scratch with valor and upgrades, the game is basically unplayable to me now. I've tried the suggestion to delete everything and reinstall but that didn't work. My last save still shows up and if I start the campaign again, I still have the valor and upgrades I earned before. Does anyone have any more ideas?

Tried as well. Where do the settings live??

You can create a new steam account and play with it.

Is this a joke? I can't start a new game from within the game? I have to not only manually delete the save, but then reinstall the game?

All you're asking for is basic functionality, found in any game made within the last decade. I am sitting here in disbelief that I have to re-download 25GB to start a new game.

DO NOT REINSTALL. Sorry for the necro, but I was having a similar issue and not seeing any good posts on the topic. This method works and is gonna save you 25gb worth of downloading (that won't reset your progress anyway).

1. Go to Steam \ userdata \ [steam user id number] \ 302510 and delete everything inside. (your profile data)
2. Disconnect from the internet.
3. Start Ryse and start a new game
4. Close the game
5.Reconnect to the internet
6. Re-Launch Ryse from steam
7.Choose to use data from PC when prompted by steam. (or it will just re-download your old profile with the other option)

Everything but your achievements are back default

I actually just came back to this game now and your method worked for me. Thanks very much!

This worked for me as well but for future reference, you don't have to disconnect from the internet. Just go into offline mode on steam and do it. Works the same way. It disconnects you from their cloud, thus creating new data instead of downloading it back.
