Spartacus!
Just one thought in my head. How cool it would be if they could make Spartacus game like this! ( apart from movie or series ) You fight your way through arena, break free and start a war with Roman Empire. With open world element in game, you save slaves from Roman soldiers and gather an army to attack some smaller camps and later even larger cities! Cool upgrade tools and weapons. Much variety in game, cool stealth element and much more executions . I don't know about you but I think it would be nice to see game like this in game industry! We don't have much game like this.

♥♥♥♥ yeah!
A spartacus arena with no effects and scenery coming from the ground, and a small game ladder so you can fight small events with slaves who are sentenced to death, and greater events to epic duels. How cool would it be to fight 1vs1 Crixus, the champion of Capua, or Theocoles. . If they would put a choice for the people between live or die so you could spare someone or not, it would have been a perfect DLC.My mind goes as far as the arena. I do not care to get free :P I would pay even 20 euros for it. But i do not think they would ever do it. Not to this game anyway.

'' You fight your way through arena, break free and start a war with Roman Empire '' please just read......you could start as a slave and work your way.....or you could be betrayed by some man you hired and left to die with your army of Spartans.....you managed to survive and make your own army of rebel. Customize your flag and character. Capturing camps and merchants will pay taxes to you, that will grand them pass through your camp and to major city, because they need to sell their goods. Bigger city could be captured stealth or siege ( siege ofc mean, catapult, ram and towers etc... typical head on.... by stealth means you could dig a tunnel beneath wall at night-few days or more and fight your way through or by paying some guards or even you could change your robes and go as prist or merchant, with horses and goods ) You kill man responsible for that city and gain access to it. You gain access to more weapons and more money etc.....When you have a little camp, Romans don't give a fu**, they will send some soldiers time to time. But owning a city, that would be a really challenge. More frequent attack, upgrading city and much more.
When you capture big city, Romans will go for public polling and challenge you to try to prove that you are just a common fighter ( as a Spartan, you started to train as a youth) you been challenged to fight with their best soldier,1on1, something like boss fight ( just like Aahil and Boagrius ) kill them and their moral drops.....it would be cool to see this element in the game....

It would be fine, except that players wouldn't appreciate the fact that they lose in the end, and that all the slaves they freed would procedingly die a slow death by crucifixtion.

And if they somehow won, what would happen to the Roman Empire? Will it suddenly become a modern democracy that frees all the slaves which the entire ancient economy was dependent upon?

You are right about the fact that players wouldn't appreciate if they lose in the end. One man with the big rebel army could not stand the power of Roman Army. In History they were great....But if I could make the game, I would give a players freedom to choose. Maybe the end would be to sacrifice myself (spartacus) for greater cause. Eliminating some people from the consultant who are important to Roman and that would cause Roman empire to fall apart......for example final boss would be Flavius Stilicho! ( he was a Romans high-ranking general, with his death, roman army literally fall apart, more like transformed, changed ) not all games should have happy ending, right.......reshape a history and voila..... :D
