Female Character Models

Does anyone else think the female character models are of remarkably poor quality when compared to their male counterparts? Not that there are many of course. I just was surprised when I started playing at how excelent the skin detail, gloss and animation were until I saw some of the female models later in the game. Dull, poorly animated and of much lower quality over all.

Does anyone else agree and does anyone have any ideas as to why this would be?
