Since it supports xb360 controllers, you can install something like DS4Tool to enable support in Ryse. What would be great is if they allowed us to change the button icons to match the controller we're using (FFXIV: RR does this).
The only controllers guaranteed to work flawlessly with Ryse out of the box are Xbox 360 and Xbox One Controllers.
I'm sure it can as the PS4 controller acts like any other plug in controller but you probably will need to map controls on your own.
@MarcelH: Any chance of including alternative button icons for those who aren't using official xbox controllers?

You guys need to start adding native support for PS4 controllers. There's no reason to play favorites. A ton of people have PS4 controllers on PC now. Just because a workaround exists that doesn't excuse devs from being lazy.
Any chance of support for my commodore 64 joystick, preferably with matching button sets.

If not, I will boycott your games forever.

That's a particularly unhelpful comment.. although funny. At somet point, developers should wake up to the fact that many people out there have a spare PS4 controller and a PC with bluetooth.
I don't get it. In the past games supported all kinds of standard gamepads through HID, sure you had to configure it manually in the game menu, but it was never in question if a particular pad would work or not. Today we have stuff like Shadow of Mordor where ONLY the Xbox gamepad works and you have to emulate it with your Logitech or whatever gamepad. Seriously, what's going on in the minds of those developers? Optimizing a game for the Xbox controller - okay, fine, why not. But locking out every other kind of controller? What's even the point in doing so, do they get money from Microsoft or what? I hope it won't be the same with Ryse as this is one of the very few games where playing with a gamepad instead of keyboard+mouse acutally makes sense.

Just use something like DS4-tool to trick your computer/the game into thinking it's an xbox controller. Sure the button prompts will be the xbox ones, but it works just fine. :)
As I mentioned I am aware of the possibility to emulate the Xbox pad. But it's unnecessary and absurd that we have to this in the first place. It should be natural that a modern game supports all kinds of gamepads (like ancient games did) without additional work done by it's own customer, lol, it should be done by the developer. It's like you have to write your own graphics driver first...

I assume that it would be more widely adopted if Sony offered official drivers or support for the DS4 on the PC, similar to what Microsoft does with their controllers- the controller itself certainly feels great :)
I use DS4Tool on any game that supports a 360 pad and not a DS4 which is most these days. It just emulates the 360 and works out of the box so Skyrim, Amalur Reckoning, etc. TL;DR if it doesn't support the DS4 natively it's easy to still use it.
