According to legend, Damocles was the revered leader of a vast Roman army. However, during a massive battle, his cowardly commanders abandoned him, and amist the battle, Damocles was slain with a spear.

Enraged at how he was treated despite his bravery, Nemesis, the deity of revenge, allowed him to come back as a vengeful warrior, a ghostly black-armored centurion who would hunt down and kill each of the commanders who had wronged him.

Many Roman commanders carry a dagger with the image of Damocles on the scabbard, which serves as a reminder to look after their men, or they would risk the Black Centurion's wrath, as he would hunt them down to punish their selfishness. Among the possessors of said dagger, there is Marius Titus.
