What's the best way to level up solo since survival is co-op only?

I know it's a bit late and you may have worked it out already. Just in case and for other's benefit. Play in solo gladiator mode. Choose custom. Select Revolution map. Then select Juptier as God.
As soon as the map starts, get down the platform. Run up the slop and as soon as you hear the Roman trumpet, run back down the slope and get under the bridge. This is to avoid all the arrows. You should see one guy with fire axe running at you. Kill him and get back under the bridge. You have to kill the rest without any access to Jupiter's stun effect as your focus meter is zero. Go for the ones without a shield. Kill them so that your focus meter will go up. Depending on what gears you have on you. You should choose the ones that help to increase your focus meter, both amount and focus time. Unfortunately, from my experience, you won't get very good gear to help this at early level. So, it is a case of git gud.
When you fight the hordes, don't panic when you are surrounded. Attack those without a shield first but always keep a look out for those who carry a shield. If they start to rush towards you, if you can, attack them first to stop them from changing to red mode. In red mode, it is very hard to block them. The window to block those in red mode is very very small. Build up your hit "chain". You will see the number on your screen at the top left corner.
If you get hit, you will immediately lose the hit chain. The bigger this number, the bigger XP you will score. So far, the highest I got was 4 hundred something. And that got me a score of over 4 hundred thousands in one game. This is basically how you level up quick.
Keep an eye on this hit chain number. If it starts to flash, press the key "R" on your keyboard. for PC. For console, you will have to press the button for taunt (I think). This will keep the number for a short while. You have to keep an eye on this number especially when you are moving. Anyway, you can find a video on Youtube about this method. It was how I learnt it. But you really have to practise to keep the kill chain going without losing the streak.
For those enemies that only carry one weapon and not wearing any head gear, you need to hit them 4 times. Then you can activate the execution by pressing the key "e" for PC. For those that have two weapons, those that carry a shield and those that have head gear on, you need to hit them 6 times in order to activate the execution sequence.
Those that carry two swords, you can block his attacks, but for their third attack, you will have to block slightly later in order to get the timing right. And you should not lose your kill streak. However, for those enemies that carry two stone hammers, if they turn red, it is very difficult to block their third attack. So far, I managed to block it sometime but I always lose my streak, i.e. the kill chain number disappear. Best thing to do is to dodge out of the way. Or use your focus ability when they are in range and deal with them first.
Back to the fight, you will have to run back up to activate two wheels which will in turn activate two catapals. These will destroy the arrow shooting machines on the other end of the bridge. When they are destroyed by the catapals, you will have to jump up and use one of the crossbows. Just hold it and then release it. Don't use it to shoot any of your enemies. Instead, just run back down under the bridge.
When you are under the bridge, there will be 4 waves of attacks. Remember to "taunt" while you are waiting for the enemies to run down from above so that you don't lose your kill chain number.
After dealing with these 4 waves, next you have to jump down to save engineers. There will be 6 enemies in total but 4 appears first then the two that carry two stone hammers and two swords. So, make sure you use your focus power with the right timing. After saving the engineers, there will be two more - one with a shield and one low level.
Next, rescue engineers again. I think there are 6 enemies again but they appear at the same time but from different directions. Again, you have to use your focus power with correct timing to catch them all. Or you can activate your focus power twice which is usually what I did. Once you deal with them, you should have build up quite a large streak number. Your next destination is back up to the highest level. A fair distance away so you have to keep an eye on the streak number. If it flashes, taunt.
Oh, one thing. At low level, you would most likely to only have 2 bars of focus power. I would suggest only activate your focus power if you are facing those that carry two hammers. I actually found that the fat dude that carry a shield and the one that carries two stone hammers are the most annoying ones. I always save my focus against them.
Once you are back up at the "town centre", 5 enemies will turn up. Deal with them.
Then the wooden bridge will change to a stone one. Run in there after the gate opens, grab some spears but don't use them. If you use them, you will lose your streak number straight away. However, keeping them will add score to your total score.
I think there are 6 enemies, two with two handed weapons, two with shields and two normal ones. Deal with them and time your activation of focus power.
Then back to the "town centre". You will face 4 barbarian leaders and one normal one. The 4 leaders appear together on the left side while the normal one appears from the right. Run to the left and activate your focus power. Deal with them first. Well, this is how I've done it. You can go to the right and deal with the normal one without using focus power first. But then, the two with two weapons may run up behind you as they move faster than the tall bosses with a large stone hammer.
Again, you should watch the video (not by me) on Youtube. Search for the same thing as your title in Youtube. You will have a better picture. Hope this help. Bit long. Have fun and stay safe out there.

Edit: I am sorry. I left out some important information if you are at low level. Since at low level, you only have two focus bars. As I said earlier, save them for the two hammers and/or two swords dude. Then those carry a shield. Now you will bound to run out of focus bar. When fighting the shield guys, hit them twice with your shields then hit them until they block you. Repeat.
For the two swords guys and the two hammers dudes, use the same tactics.
Same tactics for the leaders class enemy. But if they block you and they may turn red. Dodge out of their attacks until they change back to normal colour.
By the way, I don't know if it is the game software or my hardware (but I am guessing that it is the software), there seems to be a slight delay in term of response to pressing a key or combination of keys on the keyboard when fighting. It is a split second delay but you will feel it. I found myself hitting enemies more than 4 times as I press the mouse button subconsciously if I don't see my character hitting. It may be my mouse but I don't know. Oh, I forgot to mention about focus time. Once you activate your focus power, obviously there is a limit of time for this to be in effect. As you level up, you get more money to buy gears. I found that only gears at tier 4 and higher may have the bonus of extending this focus time. I got this on a tier 4 sword. It increases the focus time by 40%. With this, you can clean out a group of 6 low level enemies with easy. But if a group of 6 or 8 with more than one shield guys and/or enemies that carry two weapons, you will have to activate your focus power again, provided you still have focus power. So, it is essential that you remember what type of enemies will turn up and from where. Therefore you can manage your focus power much more efficiently. And of course, equip those gears that have "focus amount" because every time after you carry out an execution, this is the amount of focus power will be recovered so in effect, you can keep your kill streak going.
