(Win7 x64) AppCrash at Tex's Office (start of game)
Hi,

maybe somebody has some more ideas than me to get this game to run on my PC.

The error occurs after the first video/dialogue when you are supposed to be in Tex's Office.
At first I just got the "error does not indicate error".
I solved that by installing/configuring an alternative virtual MIDIsynth.

But now the game simply crashes with the following error ("overseer.exe has stopped working").

Problemsignatur:
Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname: OVERSEER.EXE
Anwendungsversion: 0.0.0.0
Anwendungszeitstempel: 35d1e799

What I have tried until now after searching the web:
- set the compatibilty mode to "Win 95" and run as admin
- configure the graphic settings to the lowest possible
(software renderer, 640x480, window size: letterbox, disable any additonal option)
- added the overseer.exe to the DEP whitelist
- assigned overseer.exe to only "CPU 0"
- temporarily disabled my anti-virus program

Does anybody have some other ideas what I could try ?

nvd3dum indicates that the issue is with the Nvidia driver (not that there is something wrong with your driver, just that Overseer is conflicting with it in some way).
Try rolling back to older driver versions:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_rollback.html

Good luck!

Indeed, that worked.
I rolled back from the latest nVidia-driver 347.88 to version 332.21 (which is the oldest that officially supports my Geforce 780) and the crash is gone now.

I have to try which is the latest version that does work without the error.

Great :)
I would just play Overseer to completion and then update to the latest drivers (since newer games may suffer a performance hit with such dated ones)

Install the DirectX 9c Runtime. Specifically the June2010 DirectX End User Runtimes directx_Jun2010_redist.exe from microsoft. It will unarchive itself to a folder of your choosing and then run the DXSETUP.exe file. Then download the the DirectX Web Install package dxswebsetup.exe from microsoft and run that too.
