Game stops working when attempting to combine any item.

I've been searching the internet for a solution for quite awhile and haven't been able to find a solution to this problem, i'm on windows 10 and i'm able to get the game to start normally and function almost perfectly with one major issue, any attempt to craft causes the crafting animation to stop halfway, the items do their equation animation to show what was crafted, but that's all, they do not give me the newly crafted item and my cursor is now gone as is my ability to interact with the game, causing me to have to force close the program.

I've tried every setting/compatibility combo i can think of with no effect, interestingly i noticed that return to the mysterious island (which has the same combining system) has the exact same issue, if anyone has any idea at all how to clear this final hurdle i'd be super grateful as would anyone else having this issue i expect.

tried a few things. Almost gave up. Ticked scaling in moon executable. Also ran as admin. Works through steam for me. Details if needed.

Well I'd need some details cause every thing I tried did not work, still stuck when combining the two first objects with the can. Looked through many threads here and nothing made a change.

I’m sorry but I don’t have a satisfying answer, from what I remember it began working suddenly and I couldn’t determine what it was that fixed it. I just kept messing with settings and eventually it decided to play nice and I’ve not had issues since.
