Is there potential interest in an america based dating fmv?

Really well shot game. but going down the rabbit whole that most are coming from China or Korea. I feel that there's potential market for one. Just looking for opinions since I can potentially get a crew with a budget to start it in the near future

FMV games are very rare now in the west especially something like a dating sim , would be a nice surprise if someone makes one though , in the meantime Renpy visual novels are somewhat of a good substitute

The only western fmv dating sim I can think of is Five Dates. It's on steam if you want to look it up.

Five Dates and Ten Dates are a little similar, so there is some market for it but I doubt it would draw big numbers. There have also been quite a few other non-dating FMV games, like Her Story and IMMORTALITY.

Not sure if western audiences ignore this genre because of the FMV or because of the Asian setting. A western audience probably has different expectations, meaning they might want more "game" in the game, or they might feel like it needs to be more risque. At the very least I think they would require a deeper story than most games of this type provide, like adding drama to make it more of an interactive movie.

Well, looking at the target market for these kinda games... it's usually targeted at guys who wanna date girls that are slightly outta their league or a girl that you'd consider a hot chick. That being said, this game offers only three of the "hot girls" archetypes and the other two being a shut in type and your childhood romance.

Long way to say yes. As long as the majority of your girls are generally "hot girl" archetypes, you'd be pulling from the same pool of players, imo.

I 100% know it will be criticized no matter what the story is, but I was thinking more of if an asian audience would want to have something like this, if not for a "novelty."

Plus, we can't let the loudest people dictate everything. Sure, they can burn it to the ground, but still have to try if you really feel good about something.

Two of the girls are childhood romances, so if that excludes one from being a "hot girl", then the only "hot girls" in the game are Gran and Ming. (Well, and Grandma and the other two Milk Girls, but you can't date them.)

But do the characters the actresses play really matter? I'm not in the target audience for this genre, but the sense I get is that the developers hire top models in order to draw players in, and the characters they play are largely just a device to enable the player to fantasize about having a relationship with these models. Otherwise, why hire top models at all? If the point of characters like Mal-Sook and Eun-bi were to provide players with options that seem realistically obtainable, surely the logical thing would be to cast women from a broader pool.
