Gun Draw Bug

This is a great game, but it's been an infuriating experience every time I have to complete one of the gun duels. In short, 95% of the time I'm unable to even draw my gun. I execute the method exactly as told. So I usually just stand there trying to avoid getting shot for 5-10 seconds because bringing my mouse down and up and clicking does nothing. Occasionally, the game miraculously lets me equip my gun and I'm able to shoot the bad guy, but it's pretty ridiculous that I have to attempt each 'boss' 20-30 times, if not more. No idea if this is a compabibility problem as I'm on Windows 7, but my mouse has 0 issues with any other game. I've seen 1 or 2 other people post about this issue, but I feel like I'm a rare case here. If anyone can offer any insight into my problem, it would be appreciated.

I figured it out, thanks to a friend's scouring. Alt-tabbing and then re-entering the game should fix the bug. Pretty ghetto, but hey, at least it lets me finish the game.

I don't think the mouse has much to do with it actually--just click to draw move mouse to target and click again to shoot keeping as tight focus as possible.

Dang it! … This is the same issue I'm having. All mouse-movement is ignored during the duel and the aiming reticle never appears!

I've tried the alt+tab trick at least a dozen times and triggered the reticle maybe three of those times.

I ran into the same problem. Alt-Tabbing and even restarting the game didn't work. Also tried restarting the sub level. I tried everything that I could, also some other tips; pressing 1 and 2 at the same time as moving the mouse to the bottom. It's just impossible to continue the game now. Anyone has another possible solution?

I never found a working solution and quit at that point of the game.

Does the game support controller? Cuz that's the only thing I've not tried.

It support controllers, but it doesn't support automatic buttons mapping (so you need to configure it first).

Go into the options, and remap buttons manually and it'll work (at least, it work with a 360 controller, dunno if it support every controller).

But if you want to be able to remap completely the layout (some values are hardcoded, like the LT/RT to move the camera), it'll require a third-part program like xpadder, or Pinnacle Game Profiler (which already have a working profile for this game : http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/pc-controller-support/alpha-gamepad-joystick/xbox-360-ps3-psx-etc/call-of-juarez ).

yea I had the same issue when dueling forester in front of the burning casino never actually figured it out just finaly managed to get it to work and killed the guy after about 20 restarts. now having an issue with the game crashing to desk top but thats for another thread.

I've not yet tried going back to my saved game and using a controller … got side-tracked by a bunch of other shiney games on my backlog … :|

I've had this problem too. Frustrating is an understatement after you've done exactly as OP stated and dodge bullets for 5+ seconds and your gun never draws but then, miraculously, you draw your gun at completely random and rare times. I think I'm on the final duel and I've been able to draw once out of at least ten times now.

Edit: As usual, figured it out just after posting. I had to turn my mouse sensitivity all the way to the highest setting (5500 DPI, iirc) so I think the problem is you need a lot of space to move your mouse if it's less sensitive. I was able to draw my gun at will after turning up the DPI for the duel.

I usually get it after a few hundred tries! At chapter 10 now! ugggh .... that's about 5-10 minutes of trying every ten seconds!

Congrats! Had a few parts of this game that I felt relieved to finally get past but all worth it.

Thanks for the tips here.
I succeeded by increasing the mouse sensitivity,
but you also have to dodge bullets of a while with Q and E
before your reticule *finally* appears and you can take a shot at your opponent.
(I would certainly classify this as a bug)

Just in case people have searched this up when playing in 2021 like i currently am, turn your in game sensitivity or your mouse DPI really high. It wouldnt let aiim when dueling after i failed the first time. So i turned my DPI up and it worked. Really hard to aim with a super high sensitivity but its better than not being to aim at all
