How to earn money after completing the game?

I've finished the game but I'm still not even close to getting the big bus.
No matter what I've tried my money stay the same, so how do I get to buy it?

I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that money is tied individually to each level. I noticed this after finishing the game and starting to redo the levels for 3 stars. For example, if I enter the Shop from the start of level 11, it says I have 2938 coins, but if I check this in level 12, it's 3462 coins (and the total being 5188 and 5712, respectively). So maybe there's a fixed amount of coins per level, depending on your highest score for that level? And it accumulates from level to level (represented by the "total" value)? Maybe you need to ace all levels in order to gather enough money for the bus? I am still not at that point myself, so I have no idea really...

The shop is glitched and always displays the store for the NEXT level, which has an unfortunate side effect of making your money act super weird in a bad way. In order to actually buy what you should be able to, you'll have to go to all the prior levels and sell ALL your upgrades in each shop to ensure you have your full spending ability (you never actually spend money, you just swap it for upgrades and can always swap the upgrades back out). Basically, always sell your upgrades in a level after you've beaten it, then rebuy them in the next level. You'll have plenty of money to spare if you get Expert Score on all of them.

Endless Mode and Super Fuel don't count, so that isn't an option.
